*Evelyn walked into Madam Malkins, hoping to buy some new robes. She waited in line.*
When will it be my turn, I've got stuff to do.

*pushes open the door and immediately takes in how clean the place it*
*it was rather empty but so was the street outside--it was just that time of day*
*busies herself along a wall of accessories until Amberlin arrives*

*Storms into the shop, not in anger, but just for the sake of making an entrance. Well, perhaps she's a bit annoyed because she almost wasn't able to come today, but it didn't matter.*
I'm too busy Harlow, you should help me fill out this paperwork that was due last week and I'm just too bloody lazy to fill it out myself!
*Mutters under her breath, scanning the open space of the shop. Mimicking her co-workers that tend to frustrate her helps for some reason, in most cases. Running one hand through her hair, fixing what wasn't messed up anyways, she finally sees Holly. Making her way over to the witch, she also pauses to admire the display of accessories up on the wall even though she doesn't see anything she'd like to personally own.*
Hello, Holly. I'm glad you could make it today.

*turns at the noise of her entrance, putting down a brooch*
Oh, hey Amberlin, glad you could slip away for a while.
*pulls her slipping shoulder bag back onto her shoulder, grabbing at a strong of pearl on display on a bust of an armless witch*
Work getting on your nerves?

*Inwardly groans at the mention of work. However, she's the one who said she'd explain it when they finally saw each other again, so it's basically her own fault. She nods, eyeing the brooch Holly had set down.* You could say that, I guess. Apparently there's been a case or two of great idiocy and it's spread throughout the entire Ministry. Some people are doing things they shouldn't, while others aren't doing anything at all. * just thinking about the past few days. There's been a bit of chaos, and she really hates being thrown into the middle of everything. Sooner or later, it gets exhausting.* Other than that, how've you been?

Hmm.
*is glad she never bothered to go down that path after school, the one a lot of kids choose. It didn't quite sounds as stable a job as she had heard.*
*perks up at the opportunity to talk about herself*
Fantastic, actually. I put in my papers at work and I leave at the end of next week. I'm going to pick up some interviews around town, but in the meanwhile. I'm just looking forward to some free time to myself actually. Get to spend more quality time with people.
*smiles broadly, putting back the pearls*
I should really pick up a nice set of robes for interviews.

*Quirks one eyebrow, reaching out for the brooch. She doesn't pick up, but lightly brushes over it instead.*
Yes, let's hope you're spending the time you have with either yourself or other, well, living people. I'd hate to see you standing outside some possibly dead bloke's house anytime soon.
*Sighs, pulling back her hand as she turns to face Holly.*
New robes would make the best impression, are you doing something with your hair? We should make sure you also get a good colour, otherwise you could say the most brilliant things they've ever heard and you still wouldn't get the job. My, I hate it when that happens.
*Wrinkles her nose.*
One wizard showed up for an interview in the brightest shade of yellow I even knew existed. Looking at him, I might as well have been looking into the sun!

*laughs*
No worries, I won't be doing any of that anytime soon.
*makes a face at the idea of wearing yellow*
Yeah, I think I will get a new set then. I don't what I'll do with my hair--I guess it will depend on where I end up interviewing. I guess I can just be safe and put it up, if it will stay up.
*glances at the clearance section full of last seasons winter cloaks, which reminders her*
How's the house hunting going?

*Shrugs, eyes flicking over to where Holly was looking.*
I've found a nice place in Hogsmeade, Hogwarts brats or not. I might invite you over one of these days, and you can see for yourself and tell me what you think about it.
*Grins, because what Holly says about her cottage doesn't really matter in the end unless the witch is agreeing with her.*
Speaking of where you're going to be interviewing, where all do you have in mind? So sorry, but apparently I've forgotten all the places you said earlier.
*Blinks, glancing out the door as if she's seen something incredibly interesting.*
You know, with work and all, and your interviews, I'm thinking once you've found the job you're looking for we should stop by the Leaky, and celebrate perhaps? Hopefully neither of us will have tossed some unlucky bloke out a window or anything, but you can never be too sure with the way things have been going lately.

*When another customer opens the door to the shop, the wolf sneaks in, having followed Holly's scent.*
*Hidden behind robes and clothes he walks up to her, nuzzles and sniffs at her legs, growling as friendly as a wolf can manage to growl, and vanishes again out to the street*

*turns around suddenly having felt something touch her leg, but she is only starting at a rack of Hogwarts robes*
*looks very very confused, turning back to Amberlin*
I'm sorry--I--that was strange. I--hmm.
*remembers what she was asked*
Well the staff at the Silver Serpent is all goblins, but they do have other uses for female staff, customer relations and such.
*shrugs unnecessarily, still confused*

*Blinks owlishly, watching in silence as a furry creature pokes its head out from between the robes on the rack behind Holly, before suddenly disappearing again. She turns, and follows the mutt out the shop with her eyes before turning back to the other witch, not noticing her question was answered.*
Did you- did you see that? Merlin, what if it had some sort of disease!

*gives her a "no I didn't see anything, that's why I'm confused" look but lets it go*
Eh. no more diseased than half the people who wander around the Alley. It funny, when all the kids are at school the Diagon can get just as shady as some of the side streets. It's all family friendly the week before the train leaves.
*stops for a moment before walking across the floor to another rack*
I don't want to look too young in anything...no blue I guess.

*Scrunches her nose up at the thought of being wrong.*
No, you don't understand. It wasn't a student, it was some sort of- of creature, it looked like a dog.
*Glances back to the door, not trusting that whatever she saw would stay outside.*
You don't have any pets do you?
*Shakes her head, and nods as Holly goes off to look for robes.*
Blue, no, you shouldn't unless it's the last colour available. Black is too expected, and stay away from orange please, or I just might hex someone.

*squints her eyes unattractively as Amberlin continues to go on about dogs and such in the shop*
No pets--not after working in the Menagerie for so long.
*shakes her head a little trying to persuade herself it was nothing, pulling out an ocean green robe, but putting it back when she saw the price tag*
What are all these mossy colours? Is that in? I don't want to look too old. I want something that says 7pm Saturday night.
