Down by the lake (Anthony brown)

[Aurora Brightmore]

*Aurora had gone up to her dorm and switched her books out for a set of clothes before heading outside. She stepped out into the sunshine and smiled. Walking down to the lake she hadn't seen anyone so she decided to take a dip in the lake. Rose sat the her bag by a nearby tree, took off her sweater and shoes, and walked into the lake.*

**As Anthony wandered back up to the castle from the herbology greenhouses, there was a splash from the lake. It wasn't unusual to hear the squid milling about but this sounded a little too close to shore**

**He changed his course towards the lake to investigate and saw the shape of a girl, seemingly flailing in the water**

**His eye widened as he realised she must be in trouble, and ripped off his jacket as he sprinted towards the shore**

**The water was cold around him as he ran full pelt into the lake**

Hold on! Don't worry! I'm coming!

*Rose wasn't paying attention. She swam about, ducking her head under the water. She heard a voice yell something just as she went under, but thought it to be just kids yelling at each other.*

**Anni splashed frantically through the water and was nearly at her when she ducked beneath the water. Gasping in a lung full of air, he dived; hoping he'd be able to grab her before she went too far under**

**To his relief his arms grasped hold of her and with all his might he pushed up from the lake floor. Their heads broke the water in a tremendous cascade of droplets and, holding tight to the girl, Anni pulled her further towards the shore**

It's alright...I've got you!

*Rose spluttered trying to make sense of what was going on. She could feel herself being pulled up on the shore. Her feet dragged across the grass. Rose coughed on water she had accidently swallowed.*

I..can see that. Why do you...have me?

[Anthony Brown]

**A confused look crossed Anni's honestly concerned features. It was as if she hadn't wanted to be saved**

Well...I...er...I saw you were in trouble so....

**He would have thought his reasons were completely obvious. He wiped the water from his face and shook his straggly hair out of is eyes, sending a little shower of droplets over the nearby grass**

[Aurora Brightmore]

*Rose giggled*

Oh. No...I wasn't in trouble. I was just taking a swim.

*She looked next to her and gasped. Her shirt was laying next to her bag. She rolled over and quick sat up covering herself with with her arms. Her black hair fell wet over her face, partialy hiding her cheeks which were a bright shade of red. She was embaressed.*

I..uh...oh no.

**In the heat of the moment, Anni hadn't taken time out to think that someone might actually want to get in the lake, but now, as her words hit him, her turned a deep shade of magenta and scooted away from her**

I am so sorry. I thought you were drowning.

**He quickly looked down as she covered herself, embarrassment washing over him. He'd really done it this time! Snape would surely fire him now, for being such an imbecile...and man handling a student, come to that. He shook his head. He hadn't even gotten through his trial period**

[Aurora Brightmore]

*Rose took a moment to calm her fast beating heat. She looked back at him and smiled, her cheeks still red.*

N..no its ok. Don't orry about it. At least i know someone cares enough to save me.

*she reached for her sweater, putting it on. Rose looked over her shoulder noticing a look of embaressment on his face. She moved closer placing a hand on his shoulder.*

Don't worry...I wont tell the headmaster.

*her hair fell into her face again, and she giggled.*

**A little smile appeared on his face**

Really? Thanks... I don't know what I'd do if I got kicked out.

**He pulled his legs up to his chest and laced his arms around them**

I need this job.

**Snapping out of his momentary misery, he glanced back at her, the concerned look on his face**

You are alright though, right?

Like I said..at least i know someone cares enough to save me if I'm in trouble.

*She sat down beside him, wiping the dirt off her knees*

I'm sure. I just swallowed a little water.

*Rose leaned back against the tree just looking at the man who pulled her out.*

So...lets say I had been in trouble, What is the name of my rescuer and how shall I thank him?

*she smiled, pushing the wet hair out of her eyes.*

*Gives a little grin*

I'm Anni. Anthony Brown...for long. I'm the new healer.

*Glances at her*

And you wouldn't need to thank me...if i had rescued you and not just made a prat of myself.

Well its a pleasure to meet you Anni. And you didn't make a prat of yourself. You did something no one else probably would have done. Plus I have to show my appreciation somehow.

*Grins*

We could go inside and get warm...I'm getting really cold.

*Rose shivered.*

Ya know....that sounds like a g...good idea.
