These are questions I have been asked by newbies, some just once, some a few times. Please look here before asking a question to check if there's anything that answers it already.
I've registered. What do I do now?
You have to wait for me to activate your account first. It won't take long - I am on here everyday.
Then I'd say read the Decrees. It might seem like a lot to read, but really most of them you'll find in any other RPing board.
Click here to read the rules.
If you are here to just chat with other Harry Potter nuts and not RP, then you may go straight to the General chat section and introduce yourself and join in the OOC threads as you like.
If you are here to roleplay, please see this thread first:

And follow the instructions from there.
Do you need any staff?
Staff members were chosen at the start of the forum being created, so the short answer is no. However, obviously we have grown since and have needed more moderators and support members. I then approach members who I feel have had the most experience here, are over 18, know the rules inside out, can manage the technical side of the moderating and are most active. It's not necessary to ask this question - although it's great that you are taking an interest in it.
Are you a boy/girl in real life? (or any other personal questions about me in real life)
I only answer these types of questions if you have a very very very good reason for knowing!
Why has my post disappeared?
If it was in any of the RP sections (the manor, Scotland and London) it's likely because it was you haven't posted up a character profile or read the rules before posting.
If it was in the OOC section, it might have been posted in the wrong thread/section and moved.
Can you create a new forum with me?
I have been asked this question and I really just have to say no straight out. Sorry, I just don't have the time.
Can I post in Malfoy Manor section/what sections can I post in?
It depends on what character you have chosen to play. Would your character actually *be* at the Malfoys home? For what reason? If they are members of the 'good side' they are not likely to be at the Manor, unless they are asking for trouble. If they are students at Hogwarts - then they will be living at Hogwarts and not at the Manor. Think of it in terms of what business your character has for being there. If you need an opening for a storyline to give a reason for your character to be there, then just let one of us know.
A good idea is to start with sending a letter via the Owl Delivery Service addressed to the Malfoys and strike up a correspondence with them. Or contact one of the other members and ask if your character could be 'friends' with theirs and then they can ask the Malfoys if they can invite you round.
If you have a little patience, we can arrange for your character to 'bump' into Draco or another character who lives at the Manor in Diagon Alley/Hogsmeade at some point in the near future and work it out from there.
I started a thread but no one has answered it. Why?
Probably because they haven't got round to it yet or the characters are currently elsewhere and will get to your section when their character arrives in that particular place where you have posted. I don't usually like threads to be left open and answered, I will often try and get someone to play with you if I can't myself. Please don't give up. Bookmark the thread and set your bookmarks to send you an email when someone has answered it - if you think that would be useful for you.
Can we have a c-box?
C-boxes are chat boxs for instant messaging, usually positioned at the bottom of forums. Personally, I think they detract from the boards and are unsightly/unnecessary, plus they are notoriously hard to moderate. Therefore the answer is no, and I won't be persuaded!
Can I have another character?
Yes, but you have to ask me first. You are allowed up to 3 in total. Staff members can hold more than 3 if they wish. Also, I prefer that you have been a member for at least 3 weeks and have a minimum of 10 (rp) posts before you can have another account. If you want to stop playing an old character, we will try and write it into a storyline that they leave or...possibly... die! (This only applies for non-canon characters. Canon characters that you want to stop playing will be passed on to someone else, unless staff actually agree that they can die.)
Any more general questions? Ask in this thread!
