Fleur breathed a sigh of relief when he opened the door. She rushed toward him and threw her arms around him and hugged him tightly. After what seemed like an hour of embracing him she finally looked at him and spoke,
"Somezing 'orrible 'as 'appened... ze Burrow, zey were attacked. I don't know what 'appened or 'ow eet happened. I was back in France when I 'eard ze news, I don't even know eef anyone eez alive still. I wanted to go back but eet may not be safe... I didn't know what else to do or where to go so I came 'ere."
Tears started to well in her eyes as she continued.
"I 'ave not 'eard from any of ze other Order members either, I don't theenk zey liked me very much anyway. Please, will you come weeth me to ze Burrow tomorrow? You are ze only person I can trust."
Tears were now starting to run from Fleur's eyes. She tried to put on a brave face as she didn't want Roger to see her cry but she just couldn't.

Roger was caught off guard by her sudden appearance and the way she rushed to hug him like that. He slowly and awkwardly lifted his arms and hugged her back; he was never comfortable with her showing him that much affection in fear he would enjoy it too much.
He carefully cupped her face in his hands and wiped away her tears with his thumbs before speaking.
"Of course I will help you. Tomorrow we will go to the Burrow at first light and find out what happened, I am sure they got away in time. But you must be tired from your journey and you look like you could use some rest. Do you have a place to stay? You are more than welcome to stay here tonight if you like."
Suddenly he realized that was a dumb offer to make, remembering what happened when Ginny needed a place to stay overnight. Harry and Ron nearly killed him when they found out about that, even if Ginny only gave him an innocent kiss while she was slightly intoxicated.
But whatever happened this time, Fleur needed his help more than ever. He had to come through for her.

Fleur felt slightly comforted as she felt his hands cup her face as he wiped away her tears. She cracked a weak smile before speaking,
"Thank you Roger, I knew I would be able to count on you. I was going to stay at ze Three Broomsticks but I would much razzer stay 'ere where I know eet eez safe. I did not bring much money, I don't know eef I could 'ave afforded a room even.
She removed her cloak and unfurled her long, silvery blond hair. She looked at it and fixed it in a nearby mirror. Even with the situation she felt the need for it to look good. When she felt it was good enough she looked at Roger and spoke.
"Where eez eet you would like me to sleep?"

Roger became momentarily addled as Fleur unfurled her hair. Despite seeing her dozens of times before, he still couldn't get used to being around here at times. He shook his head to try and regain his focus as he looked rather embarassed, before he spoke to Fleur.
"You can sleep in my bed. And I'll sleep on the couch of course" he quickly added, not wanting her to take his words the wrong way.
"This is going to be hard" he thought to himself.
"Tomorrow is going to be a big day and you'll need your rest. My room is this way." After that he pointed and beckoned her to follow him.

Fleur's smile grew and she even laughed a bit at Roger's antics, something she really needed at this dark hour. She followed Roger to his room and stopped in the doorway before turning to face him and spoke.
"Thank you for being a good friend Roger, I don't know 'ow I can make zis up to you. But eet eez good to see you again"
After that she leaned in and kissed his cheek.

"It is always good to see you Fleur. Now get some rest, I'll see you in the morning," he said as he closed the door.
He rubbed the spot on his cheek where Fleur kissed hi to dull the burning sensation that accompanied a veela's kiss. He walked into the kitchen and poured himself a glass of cold water.
"Hopefully she will only be here the night" he thought to himself as he quickly drank the glass and began to fill another. Not that he didn't like her, he was worried about himself. Ever since they decided to remain friends, he was still strongly attracted to her. The fact that she was engaged made the problem even worse. While initiating a relationship with a taken women was far below his standards he was afraid he would do something while under her veela influence.
As he lay down on the couch he was worried how Bill might react to this as both of them only met briefly a few times at the Burrow. Roger hadn't forgot the drubbing Ron put him through when Ginny needed a place to stay over night. Hopefully Bill was more level headed and would understand.
Even if Bill did react violently, Roger would still gladly take it to help Fleur out.

After Roger closed the door Fleur began to get ready for bed. She opened her bag removing her robe and quickly changed into it. While her eyes scanned the room looking at the many quidditch trophies and memorabilia, something else caught her eye: a framed photograph. Intrigued, she decided to examine it further. There were two people in it. One was a very handsome young wizard with black hair wearing fine dress robes with a dazed look on his face. The other was a beautiful young witch with her long silvery blond hair pulled up and wearing a silvery gray dress. She had a bright smile with her perfect, even teeth sparkling. Fleur knew immediately who the people in the photo were and when and where it was taken. It was of her and Roger at the Yule Ball. She also noticed she left a message on it...
Dear Roger, I will always treasure out time together, Love, Fleur XOXO
Seeing the picture brought back a flood of memories, memories that she didn't want to deal with at this time. Not that she had any regrets, she had to focus on finding Bill and the rest of his family. She placed the photo back where it was before falling into bed. Despite her mind racing about tomorrow and the memories stirred up by seeing the photo, she fell asleep easily.

Roger woke up early the next morning and went to his room to get Fleur up. He knocked on the door in an attempt to wake her. When he received no response he reached for the doorknob to open it, but quickly pulled his hand back as he realized it would be quite rude to just barge in on Fleur like that. He thought for a moment or two before whistling to summon his trusted Barn Owl, Bubo.
"Bubo, I need to go around from the outside and wake Fleur" he said. Bubo chirped in acknowledgement as he was released. He flew outside the cottage and into Roger's room through an open window, landing on the bed next to Fleur. He then walked over toward her and gently pecked at Fleur's face.

Fleur woke up suddenly. Horrified, she slapped at the owl and jumped up from the bed. She hurriedly put on her robe as the owl flew erratically. She flailed her arms about in order to shoo it away before she yelled,
"ROGER! 'ELP! ZERE EEZ AN OWL EEN 'ERE!"
She picked up the pillow and swatted at it yelling,
"GET OUT! SHOO! SHOO!"
In her hurry to put on her robe she did not have it closed tightly around her upper body, although only the lower part of her neck was revealed.

Hearing the commotion, Roger burst into the room and held out his arm for Bubo. The owl immediately flew towards him and perched on his outstretched arm.
"Sorry Fleur but I didn't know how else to wake you" he said as he gave her an apologetic smile.
He noticed Fleur's robe was not completely closed and became quite entranced looking at her. He stared at her for a moment or two before he came to his senses and realized what he was doing.
"Oi! I'm sorry Fleur!" he exclaimed as he quickly retreated form the room slamming the door shut.
Regaining his composure, he walked towards the icebox and opened it. He grabbed an ice cube and rubbed it over his face and neck in an effort to cool himself off.
"This is going to be harder than I thought" he thought to himself.

Fleur looked quite puzzled at the way Roger quickly ran from the room and slammed the door shut. She simply shrugged, as she didn't know what he was apologizing for. She walked over to her bag, pulled out a familiar outfit, similar to a jogging suit, and quickly changed into it. She wore this particular outfit before, to do the last task of the Triwizard Tournament. It was light blue, the color of Beaubatons and was well fitted to her body as she didn't want it to catch on anything. She pulled her hair back into a ponytail to keep it from getting in her way, through she hated the way it looked.
Fleur looked herself over in the mirror, still not content with her appearance but deciding this was as good as she was going to look. She picked up her wand and went out into the living room where Roger was waiting.
"I know, I know, zis outfit eez 'orrible, but I did not 'ave anytheeng else suitable." She groaned.

"On you, everything looks good Fleur" Roger claimed as he scanned her outfit. He actually found the way her outfit conformed to her feminine curves quite distracting. Struggling to take his eyes off her as he went to his room to get changed, he nearly walked into the closed door. Embarrassed, he opened it and went inside, putting on an old T-shirt and jeans before coming out.
"Well, you are more familiar with the Burrow, I think you should be the one to apparate us there" he said.

"Still ze charmer, aren't you" Fleur said as she smiled back at Roger, struggling not to laugh as he almost walked into the closed door. She was always amused how he was befuddled by her. Even Ron, her future brother-in-law could control himself better around her.
Fleur nodded her head in agreement as Roger suggested she take the lead to apparate.
"I'd better. Apperating requires much concentration; we will nevair get zere weeth your focus" she teased as she took his arm and walked him outside before dissipating them to the Burrow.

It was late afternoon when Roger apperated himself and Fleur in front of his cottage after visiting the Burrow. He had trouble accepting what he saw; a pile of smoldering rubble which was once the Weasley's home and the fields around it burned to ashes. He actually felt quite worried for the Weasley family after finding no trace of any of them.
But the one he worried for the most was Fleur, knowing this could not be easy for her. He put his hand on her shoulder, gripping it in a futile attempt to comfort her.
"I'm sure they escaped that carnage" he told her, trying to be reassuring.

Fleur simply stood there, a shelled-shock look on her face. She almost could not believe the horror she had just seen, the Burrow turned to ruins and the surrounding crops charred to the ground.
"No one could have survived that" she though as Roger tried to comfort her. She was terribly worried about Bill and his family, not knowing where they were or if they were alive or not. But she had to have hope as it was all she had.
