*knows that this has to do with that boy from outside, the one he sent after Elena....*
Yes, well then, crystals have been used for many many ages for magic as they are best equated to vials to hold magical energy. If a witch needs sunlight 24/7 in her greenhouse, she can't be there all the time to use Solaris. She can magik sunlight into a crystal and place it among her plants...

*looks confused, but follows Professor's instructions exactly*
*goes over to the tower of thin stick things and places the three crystals from largest to smallest in a row between the branches. She then picks up the large grey-covered book from the Professor's desk, opens it to the bookmarked page and recites in a drool and unbelieving voice...*
Maior ad parvum elementis mundi virourm mitto.
*Elena snaps the book shut just the steady stream of sunlight catches the largest crystal. It filtters through the middle sized one, turning a deep orange and finally engulfs the little crystal in flames. When the fire resides, the two larger crystals are cracked, but the smallest one is flowing in all the colors of the sunrise.*
Uh.....Professor?

*looks disapppointed*
Well, Miss Elias, you current emotional state seems to have causes the ritual to overcharge a bit, if I may say. Dear, these crystals crack so easily. *picks the two broken crystals from the contraption and throws them on his desk*
Let's hope this doesn't blow up the school. Elena, take up that mult-colored one, yes there, no it is not hot, and hold it for a second.
*He conjured a clay pot filled with dirt, a large seed as like from an avacado. The pot was bright purple.*
Yes, well, never was good at charms. Now everyone, this is a Mongolian Flower seed with I will place into the pot of earth and cover. *does so*. I will now water it...
Agumenti!
And alas, it does not grow. *holds up the pot for all to see*

That's because it needs time to grow.

Oh really?
Now place that crystal deep into the pot. Make sure it is not touching the seed.

*As Elena does so, the pot begins to warm up and the glowing crystal ca be seen even underneath the dirt. Then, slowly and twisted, a thin green vine emerges. Within 30 seconds it has grown to be a foot, with dozens of unfurling grey green leaves and a score of bright red--orange flowers that resembled pansies.*

Miss Chimaera, what do you think of this?
*Is now holding the plant far from himself as it is still growing*

Priscilla had been sitting in silence all the while dilligantly taking notes and now watching with fascination at the growing plant.
"Very clever, sir. I suppose it would come to it's full use growing magical tree circles," she said in answer to the professor's question.
"Also, I've experienced, a fully charge rose quarts cluster is ideal for stabilizing the energy of muggle devices such as televisions and computers, and if enchanted correctly, they can even function as a power source for these devices."

Pris looked at Elena as if she had just said the most silly thing she'd ever heard.
"Studies and experience, Elias," she said sounding slightly patronizing.

*reaches deep inbetween the vines and flowers and pulls out the cyrstal, at once the plant stops squirming and its leaves droop a bit*
Right, I'll have Professor Sprout have this, I'm not partial to living things. *says this with a hint of sarcasm*
And Miss Chimaera, excellent response. Here is your reward for today.
*places the still glowing crystal on her desk*

Priscilla's eyes widened a fraction as the professor placed the stone on her desk. Her look of disbelief quickly turned into the grin of a predator, and she gave the professor a nod of recognition and appreciation. The tips of her hair seemed restless, as she folded the stone into a velvet cloth she had in her bag, and carefully placed the bundle into a small leather pouch.
