*can feel the students getting restless, which must mean they are done*
*looks up from reading*
Class would be ending in ten minutes, but if you are done, you may lead. Be ready to start on ritualisation next class.

Yes, of course. Thank you, professor.
*puts her things in her school bag and quietly leaves the room, looking back over her shoulder at Sebastian*

Once again, something small and golden scuttles discreetly off Priscilla's usual desk and heads for the door on pin-like legs.

*quickly looks, up, and seeing Miss Chimaera sighs*
I am very sorry lessons have gotten off track. You know what happened to Noelle and Don's brother? Yes, of course.
*folds his paper* Life seems to have no respect for NEWTS, as well as some students. *looks out the door at the two who just left*

"He was in my house, sir. But he tended to avoid me, so I didn't know him all that well." She quickly cast a glance at the door where the students had just left and looked back at Giles.
"I've started writing my essay, sir. It's so much more vast than I imagined. There are so many types of crystals, and I even found out the other day that some muggles actually have a bit of knowledge about how to use them! Can you believe it, sir? Muggles using magically charged devices? Without the Ministry having to get involved? I find that very interesting. I, mean, obviously, most crystals charge themselves with their own initiate magic when allowed to absorb sunlight or moonlight, whichever is the most potent for that particular stone, so the muggles wouldn't have to use any actual magic, but the fact that some of them have in fact figured out a bit about how to use them is rather astonishing, don't you think, sir?" She looked excited and energetic as she talked.

My, what you have discovered so far is astonishing Miss Chimaera. I daresay the Ministry would pick you up straightaway of you went on like that in an interview, true passion.
And yes, Muggles using magical items--it's *stammers a bit* well, it makes you think what else they have learned to do.

"Well, I looked into it over the holidays, and appearantly it's part of a movement called 'New Time' or 'New Age' or something, and they belive in healing powers, in a religious sort of way, and obviously they are frowned upon by the professional muggle healers, or... oh, what's the word again... ah, yes! 'Doctors'," she grinned proudly, "who say that is all a load of supersticious rubbish. Well, anyway, apart from the muggle-thing, I also stumbled across this in the library the other day, and I was wondering if you knew anything more about it, because the writer was very vague and finally declared that she woud not write any more about it, but did not state why..." She pulled out a piece of parchment on which she had quite obviously copied down a small section from the book in question. It read:
...and some rituals should never have taken place. The damages of the ritualization of the Black-Tangled Heart Ruby in Balkan a few years ago, are some of the most severe since (although still non-comparable to) that of the Sun Cross Diamond in Germany at the end of the 1930's, which, as we all know, caused one of the most deadly muggle conflicts in history. The Diamond was destroyed, far later than ever should have been allowed, and we can only hope that the Black-Tangled Heart Ruby is found and dealt with before the wrath of chaos within it causes what the muggles would surely call the Third World War. I have no more to say on this subject.

*taking the parchment from her, he paced around the room as he read it, twice*
*he started to go over things in his head, books he'd read, lectures, dissertations....muggle history books....*
The Sun Cross diamond was what pushed ahead the International Statute on Ritualization at Versailles. Apparently, some dark wizards were on council to a muggle Dark Lord, there's a word for it, starts with a F in German, anyway, he relied on the repressed prejudices and hatred of his countrymen to fuel the power of this stone which allowed him to turn a great majority of people into monsters, consumed by prejudice. They would then do horrible things against their own. My goodness, I barely remember learning this in Egypt.

It looked as though someone had turned on a light in Priscilla's head.
"Oh, has it got something to do with what the muggles call 'the Holocaust'?" She seemed almost dangerously interested and her eyes were wide.
"Does this mean that the muggle conflicts in what was once old Persia might have been caused, or at least spurred on by some sort of Dark Magic ritual?" The white in her eyes was clearly visible, but it was difficult to decipher if her expression was one of shock or one of deep facination.

Yes, yes that sounds right, oh, fuhrer, that's what the muggles called their Dark Lord.
And yes, I could logically see the connection you are making, my, you are well versed in muggles history.
