Priscilla handed in her finished work and sat down again.
[OOC: I'm in a bit of a tight spot time-wise, as I have an audition tomorrow morning, so I won't be able to pm anything until at least tomorrow afternoon.]

Excellent. Now, Dark Magic in duelling. I am sure you know about the Unforgiveable Curses. These are only the tip of the iceberg, so to say.
For example, there is a curse, which I am quite forbidden to tell you the incantation for, that will stop your breath in your lungs, but unlike the Killing Curse, you will not die but seem dead and can be revived. Does anyone know about the muggle story Romeo and Juliet? The girl had a potion that mimiced the effect of the spell to fool the man she supposed to marry...
Anyone know any others? *gives that smile that disappears as his mug reaches his lips*

Yes, what about them? Did they use a Dark spell to avoid being captured?

*back to Miss Cheever*
Now, could you explain your Salem example again?

Well, The muggles disliked We witches and wizards and thought that we were agents of the devil, and so to avoid the tourture, they might have cast the curse on themselves or their loved ones who were accused in order to make the men and women of Salem to believe them already dead.

Ahh, good insight. In many cases witches would go all the way---have the muggles bury them---and then escape from their graves and be able to start new lives.
*Takes out his wand an closes the curtains, the light was beginning to shine right in his face*
No as there is a balance in magic, there are equally powerful blocking spells that are not quite Dark, but so powerful that MoM does not have them registered. For example, encasing an opponent in a sphere of fire or water. Force fields, a true ones, are also in this category.

*Remember how the daily Prophet claimed Dumbledore had used such spells to protect Harry Potter a time back when he fought the Dark Lord in the MoM.*

*looks in planner* I think this is good for now. I want to get into the harder lesson before Holiday so I am going to leave out duelling stances from the agena until later in the term when we take up the practical half of this lesson.
Next class we will go into detail about amulets, talismens and other jewlery. Feel free to bring back any of the three you brough to the first lesson.
For Homework, please find in your books one story about a wizard or muggle who encountered a coursed peiced of jewlery. I hope this to be a fun assiagnment you can share next class. Dismissed.

*Smiles back.*
I have actually been finding a job for after Hogwarts. I have been thinking of going into spellmaking, but I found out that that requires three years of additional schooling and I need money right out of college. It has been on my mind and distracting me for a while.
*laughs*
Sorry to be so grave.

*Laughs at her remark about being grave*
No, don't be. That's good, I should be too, I'll probably get a jop at a shop or somthing to start out because my father'll stop sending money for the rent for my apartment, then I'll probably look to preform somewhere.
