Name of Storyline: Salazar's Secret Society
Timescale: Over the next few weeks and continuing as long as it needs to. Rookwood has already moved on to Pansy to try and win her round his way and Silvery has already been tracked and kidnapped (see Full Moon's Potions thread in Diagon Alley).
Characters directly involved: Silvery, Ophelia, Augustus Rookwood, Pansy, Draco, Bletchley, Vladislav
Characters who know about the details of the background story: Only Bletchley, Rookwood, perhaps the members of SSS later on once memory has been jogged.
Background
In his fifth year at Hogwarts, Draco discovered a Secret Passageway that could be found when the password to the Slytherin common room was spoken backwards at a tapestry hanging on one of the walls of the room. He was aided by clues that were woven onto it and managed to decipher their meaning.
Within the passageway was a ten word inscription on the wall that Draco could not recite for the life of him when he got out of the passage and only could remember the first word of it. Even more frustratingly, when he wrote the words on a parchment, the ink disappeared when he got out of the passage, leaving only the first word. When Draco made the discovery, he did not tell anyone at first as he thought he could make something of it on his own. Dumbledore, however, knew that Draco had discovered the passageway and so had the tapestry removed (with great difficulty). Annoyed by this, Draco found a way of breaking into Dumbledore's office. Instead of stealing the tapestry (which was lying on the floor waiting to be destroyed), which he thought would be too obvious, he decided to just take a strand or 2 from it - it seemed worth a try. He could only manage to take one long silver strand from the tapestry before he heard someone coming and had to make a quick exit.
With the one strand, he was able to access the passageway again. By accident one day, Pansy and Zabini came into the common room to see him holding up the strand to the wall and demanded to know what it was. Draco begrudgingly told them but refused to let them have the strand of the tapestry as he wanted sole access. That night, Pansy creeped into Draco's dorm while he was asleep and cut the strand in half, only for both parts to magically grow back to the original size of the strand by the morning. Draco was none the wiser. Pansy then cut it to give to Millicent and Millicent cut it to give to Zabini. When the three discovered that they too could only remember one word of the inscription, they spoke to one another about it and realised that Pansy had the second word, Millicent had the third and Zabini had the fourth and concluded that Draco knew the first word. Intrigued, Pansy decided to admit what she had done to Draco. Understandably, Draco was furious but soon curiousity took over and he spilt the strand another 3 times and chose 6 more Slytherins to own them. With ten members, they were able to recite the inscription and they found depths of magic they could only dream about, but since they were all relatively young and inexperienced, they could not harness the powers efficiently enough to do anything particularly damaging. They started a Secret Society that ran like an opposite to Dumbledore's Army with Draco as the natural leader and even managed to convince members of other houses to act as spies for them.
Sadly, there was a hitch. Miles Bletchley became greedy and convinced Zabini that they would be better off without Draco and stole his strand. Draco then completely forgot about the SSS and the passageway, as if his memory had been magically wiped by loosing his strand, much to Bletchley's amusement. However, the plan did not work and the first word was unretrievable without ten people. Bletchley dated Silvery for a while soon after and showed her Draco's strand, telling her about the SSS and how they had lost the first word since taking the strand off Draco. He tried to convince her to take Draco's strand and take over his place in SSS. Silvery refused to take it and in a rage, Bletchley pulled Draco's strand in two and threw them at her. The whole magic was broken and all was lost. All ten Slytherins forgot their words and the passageway, and the SSS was disbanded. Silvery picked up the two parts of the silver strand and decided to keep them, even though she remembered nothing of their power or meaning.
There was only one other person apart from Dumbledore that knew of the magic of the tapestry and that was Lord Voldemort. As the heir of Slytherin, it was Salazar's tapestry that he painstakingly studied as his days as a Slytherin student and felt it belonged to him. He knew deep inside that Dumbledore had destroyed it but couldn't be sure. When Lord Voldemort saw Bletchley at a DE Training Meeting, he recognised the tapestry strand that was still tied around his wrist (Bletchley had thought it looked good and kept it on, though he had no idea what it meant). This confirmed to Lord Voldemort that even though the tapestry had been destroyed, there were still some strands in existance. He took the strand from Bletchley and placed the memory back into his mind so that Bletchley could tell him what happened. Lord V told Bletchley to fetch Silvery so that he could get the strands off her, or at least the location of them so that he could get them retrieved. He also delegated Augustus Rookwood with the task of getting Pansy's strand of which he needs in order to fix the broken original strand, and Rookwood's next task will be to retrieve Draco's broken strands once the location of them is discovered. With Pansy's strand and Draco's broken strand in Voldemort's possesion, the inscription can be recited again and Salazar's soul can be reborn. A power which Lord Voldemort seeks to strengthen his legacy.

Spies for SSS:
Zacharias Smith
Marietta Edgecombe
Plot outline:
Bletchley was keen to take Silvery as he still obssesses over her and plus, it is an honour to do the task for Lord Voldemort and hopes it will secure a high rank as a Death Eater. Bletchley also still holds a jealous grudge against Draco and feels this would be one up over him. Bletchley has already kidnapped Silvery to take to Voldemort so that he can extract from her the exact location of the 2 strands and they can then be retrieved by Rookwood. He waited until he knew Draco would not be around to protect or run after Silvery, so that the kidnap would be more successful. Silvery's fate depends on her co-operation and Bletchley's success in getting her to Lord Voldemort.
Ophelia will learn of Silvery's disappearance, since Silvery confided in her about her concerns of someone following her. Ophelia alerts Vladislav who will worry about Draco's pet dragon, Zorah, (who has now grown to the size of a horse!) since neither Draco or Silvery are there to take care of her and he will stay at Malfoy Manor in order to do so himself.
The strands are actually kept in Silvery's box that she has recently taken out of her vault in Gringotts. The plot after that will be left to follow its own course, but obviously Draco will have to try and find where Silvery is when he gets back from his task (Plot 1) and Bletchley will not be popular with him when Draco finds out what has happened. Also, the original members of the SSS might find their memories of the words and passageway coming back to them as Lord Voldemort re-activates Salazar's magic...
Side plot, concerning Daphne:
History
As Draco was putting the strands against the wall, Daphne also was spying on him since she had a feeling he was up to something. She saw Pansy sneak out of the dorm the night she took Draco's strand. Also she saw when he gave pieces of the strand to 6 other Slytherins and was angry that he didn't pick her, as she believed that she would have been perfect for it. Daphne has secretly hated him for it. She hadn't told any of her friends that she knew about the SSS for fear of them telling Draco and being ridiculed. She never forgot about it when the SSS members did, and she vowed that one day she would find the strand, even if it meant hanging around at Malfoy Manor.
Now
She has been a regular visitor at the manor recently, and is pretending that she still has all respect for Draco and his family in order to stay close to them and then get what she wants. Her aim was to get Draco on his own long enough for her to try and jog his memory about the SSS, extract info about where the strand may be and any other useful info about the SSS, and then Obliterate him afterwards so that he can't remember. A Typical Slytherin, with ulterior motives, and only out for herself.
