About the male/female ratio, the following list shows that there is a balance, although perhaps some of the male characters appear less often. To combat the unbalance, I’d prefer to get the male characters on the list around more often, rather than create new ones!

Reason for creating new character: I didn't want to play canon as I've been LRP-ing for about 10 years and enjoy creating my own characters. Also, I was interested in exploring the Daily Prophet as a RP device and didnt think canon was compulsory.
Which 'side' is character on? (can be neutral if you wish): Mostly dark with neutral sprinkles.
Background of character: Lois is meant to be the daughter of Gilbert Rutherford Prince, Eileen Prince's younger brother and thus Severus Snape's cousin. (Gilbert is an invention of my own, sorry if this is not allowed.) She did most of her magical studies at Hogwarts and then had a 'finishing school' year at Durmstrang because her grandmother insisted. She was editor of the Durmstrang school paper and is now working for the Prophet.

Oh, and what sections did you want to RP in? You can set up a Daily Prophet Offices thread in Diagon Alley, they have HQ there in canon.
I wasn't sure what group to put you under either - have a look in the groups, ranks and titles thread in the announcement board (General Chat) and see if you can see a better one. If not, might have to make a new one!

Oh, and you really need to choose a picture for you AV! Not your RL self though - unless you're happy with using your RL pic as your character. Let me know if you need help.

I'd like to RP in most sections if it's possible... I'm not sure how often I can get online, but hopefully it will be about an hour a night apart from a couple of days when I am working.

You need a reason for being at the Malfoys - have you one in mind? have you come for business (interviewing anyone?) or pleasure? I have an image I found of the DP street sign - I'll pass it over to you or you can write up the the DP HQ thread and I'll stick it in afterwards if you like.

Background of character:
The bastard great-great grandaughter of Hogwart's most unpopular headmaster Phineus Nigellus, the product of his dalliance with a merperson, Melusine is a drifter. Drawn to the water and blessed with an exceptional gift for herbology Melusine collects rare herbs and plants that few others can gather and sells them to the highest bidder. Aloof, mysterious, but aware she is different, even in the wizarding world, Melusine is alone. Her grandmother and mother were shunned by both the Mer and wizarding communities, she was educated at Baubaton where her mysterious heritage was kept a secret. Her father, a muggle, left them shortly after Melusine was born. Travelling alone since she left school 12 years ago, she has made few friends. Milicent Bulstrode & Melusine met whilst Millicent was travelling on the Dark Lord's bidding. Millicent suggested that Melusine come to the Manor as there were some rare and perhaps undocumented magical plants in the lake....which brings her here, knocking on the door.

Background of character: I lived in Bulgaria, since I was born, brought up with a background of magic. Got accepted for Durmstrang at the age of 11 years, and graduated last summer, at the age of 17. The thing I was most skilled at at school, was potions, and as I heard Silvery was taking over the potions shop in Diagon Alley, I thought I could help her out. I am a friend of Silvery, and thus we have been keeping in touch since she went to Durmstrang. I heard she was staying at the mansion and sent her a note, saying I was in town. (A note will be posted in the post room, once the character is approved, just to get the story line starting)

Side: Nuetral, though her family supports the Dark Lord
Background: Her father left when she was five, leaving her mother and her older siblings to fend for themselves.Even though she's proud of her pure heritage, she has slight doubts about the Dark Lord and his cause. She keeps those thoughts to herself. Confident, and slightly on the arrogant side, she holds herself proudly along the corridors of Hogwarts. She has few friends, but those who she is friends with, she's very close. It's hard for her to trust people easily, always looking for the wrong.
