I think so, but he was kind of a semi canon and so perhaps out of courtesy I should email him first to ask him if he doesn't mind someone else taking his character on.
I'll email him now and ask him, then I'll get back to you if I hear from him. choose another DE in the meantime (his father?) or wait to see if he replies. That OK?
