We now have 5 different types of roles that your characters come under at Malfoy Mansion. These are:
1. Canon (major)
ie. Harry, Draco, Lucius etc
2. Minor or semi-canon
ie. Julian Nott, Roman Lestrange etc
3. Non-canon (or original characters)
ie. Alexa Serpente, Seraphina Bloodworth, Elara Pythous etc.
4. Cameo
New! Can be any unclaimed minor canon (specified in the Spare canon list) or a non canon character.
5. Substitute (canon or major non-canon)
You can be a substitute for any character, all major canons ideally should have substitutes.
I don't have to explain what the first 3 are, but if you are new to RPing you may not know these terms. Please don't be afraid to ask if you don't know.
The last 2 are the new ones!
Cameo Roles
A cameo role is like what you get in films, where a character has a minor or 'walk in' part.
To play a cameo role at MM, you do not need to create a character profile, nor do you have to keep them active after you have played your part.
Important!
You cannot be a cameo of a character that is already active at Malfoy Mansion and they should not compromise the activity of your other main characters. You can only have 1 cameo at a time and no more than 1 cameo a month. You are more likely to get permission for a cameo if you are a consistantly active member of MM. Cameo roles should ideally not go on for more than 3 weeks.
You do still have to let me if know you are intending to play a cameo. Please ask for the details of an existing account in advance so we have time to give it to you before you need the character. If there is no existing account, you can register a new one, after you have received permission.
A non-canon cameo can be played if you need a fatality and you/staff don't want any existing characters to die.
Cameos are also perfect if you have a particular story/plot and you only need a character temporarily for the storyline.
Or you just fancy a change for a little while.
All the current roles that are available as cameos are in the Spare Roles & Canons list.

Substitutes
Because we have people becoming inactive often enough for it to halt your storylines, we are now introducing a substitute system.
You can choose to be a substitute for any character here at Malfoy Mansion, canon or non canon. You can only be 2 characters' substitutes - otherwise you might end up having to play too many characters if your chosen characters become inactive.
If your chosen character has become inactive, you must be able to take over the account and continue the character in the way the previous member played him/her. You may find then that you have to give up one of your less important characters in order to play the new character.
A character can have more than 1 substitute.
All you need to do is apply to be a characters' substitute in the new 'Substitute List' found in this section.
NB. Please do not take on more characters than you have time for!
