*Stalks into the library, carrying four heavy books in his arms, currently in a vile mood*
*Opens his book entitled Alternative Devices*
This should be good.
*Scans the page, already feeling better after reading a few lines, casually resting his head upon his hand as he continues browsing and writing the occasional note*

*walks by, casually glancing in Julian's direction before stopping when realises who it is*
Julian? Wow! I don't think I've ever seen you in the library before.
*lowers her voice, as if telling a secret*
You don't get extra credit for hanging out here, you know.
*snickers*

*Meets her gaze*
I thought not, but this isn't for any particular class.
*Lazily takes in her appearance, cocking his head*
Why are you in the Ravenclaw infested library, Astoria? I'm angry and demented, I have an excuse.

Angry and demented...that's one way to put it.
*laughs as holds up the two books she's carrying*
I'm only here to return these. They're overdue and I thought it wise to have them back before Pince starts chasing me around the school for them.
*shrugs and casts her curious eyes on his book*
So what are you reading then?

*Manages a sort of satisfied smile*
I was hoping you'd ask. I just started it.
*Shoves his other books aside and places Alternative Devices in between them*
Now, from what I've figured out so far, the book presents torturing and killing devices other than your wand. You never know when you need a back up, right?
*Says all this almost excitedly, eyes glowing*

*can't help but smile at his excitement*
Sure! Knowledge is power after all.
*pulls up a chair next to him, sitting down and browsing through the first few pages of the book*
It makes me wonder though...if there might be a specific motive behind this research.
*looks up at him questioningly*
Is there?

*Heaves a light sigh*
Is there such a thing as innocent reading? Apparently not with you.
*Looks at the open page, the corners of his mouth lifting*
We're going to be out of here soon enough and Salazar knows the professors don't teach us everything we need to know.
*Glances around for other students and whispers*
I've been having some rather pointless dreams, also. Not the Hufflepuff symbolic box rubbish. Other dreams. I thought they might go away if I distract myself and prepare for the worst.

*raises a delicate eyebrow*
Prepare for the worst?
*sighs, lightly shaking her head*
Why are you so extreme Julian? Everything is gloom and doom with you. You wind yourself up too tightly...it can't be healthy.
*turns the page*
I'm worried you may self-combust one of these days...

*Actually chuckles at this*
I'm the epitome of health, look at me. You need a closer look.
*Mouth changes into a thin, hard line*
I'm not going to flat out ignore something if it's happened before. I can't just float along like Hufflepuffs do. They take delight in breathing.
*Glances down at the book to see an illustration of a noose and scoffs*
Now the author is just being repetitive.

Yes, perfectly healthy on the outside but the inside...hmm, not too sure. Rotten I dare say.
*laughs at her own poor attempt at a play with words then looks down to see what he's talking about, nodding in agreement*
True, hardly a new ideal. Boring at best.
*turns a few more pages and stops to snicker at a picture*
Haha! Is that person covered in leeches? Lame, but still a bit more creative than a noose.

*Appears less gloomy after looking at the leeches*
Sad b******. I do like that tactic. Easy to nick from Potions.
*Idly flicks to the next page*
Ahh, poison ink. Already failed at that. The green variety is far too obvious to the reader.
*Sets his other hand on Astoria's thigh as if he owned that bit of her*

*smirks and scoots her chair a bit closer*
Tried that, did you? I'd love to hear the story one day.
*notices the words on the opposite page and shakes her head*
Torture by tickling? Now that's just plain ridiculous.
*laughs*
This is quite an amusing book Julian.

*Shrugs in one smooth movement*
Not much to tell. The boy wasn't as daft as he looked and he suspected green ink wasn't normal. He snogged me, you know. I'm not just going to let that go.
*Creeps his hand higher on her thigh*
After that ordeal I realised that I could have had a following of boys at Beauxbatons as well as my regular girl following. Possibly, I should probably see if it wasn't just a fluke case. Have you seen any others ogling me?
*Makes a disgusted face, immediately silencing himself before he opens up any further*
Tickling? Rubbish, turn the page.

*tries to keep a straight face so as to not upset him, he was confiding in her after all*
He...snogged you? And you didn't curse him into oblivion right then and there?
*shakes her head and turns the page*
No, I have not noticed any boys ogling you. Perhaps it's only Beauxbatons that's full of pansies.
*snickers then scans over the next entry*
Ah! Burning and cutting. Now it's getting more interesting...

*A look of anger flashes across his face*
*States without emotion*
I tried to kill him, but he flooed away. I had enough of a time fighting the Imperius so I gather I missed.
*Smirks at her enthusiasm*
You know, most girls would probably freak out about this subject. I do hope they tell you where the main arteries are.
