*Luna, having been directed by the Welcome Witch when she entered, made her way to the Creature-Induced Injuries floor of the hospital*
*Fills out a form, and sits down to wait*
*Looks at her hand and frowns... Daddy always said that a Gernumbli bite was a blessing, but was her hand supposed to be so swollen, and indeed, so very purple?*
*Swings her legs under the chair as she waits, her hand too painful to clutch a copy of the Quibbler*

*Peers around the corner to the waiting room to look for patients. The only person there is an oddly clad witch holding up her had in an awkward angle.*
Hello, I am Augustus Pye, trainee-healer. Come with me, please.
*He ushers her into an empty treatment room, taking the form with him.*
Now, let me have a look at your hand. How did this happen?

*Luna gets to her feet, and despite the pain in her hand skips after him towards the treatment room*
Nice to meet you, Healer Pye.
*Takes a seat in the treatment room and frowns as she looks at her hand, not looking as dreamy as normal*
A bite from a Gernumbli Gardensi... but I believe it has been infected with Umgubular Slashkilter larvae. I think that's how the Slashkilter larvae entered the wound.
*Says all this with a perfectly straight face*

Erm... yes.
*Wonders secretly if she isn't an in-patient from the 4th floor, but her hand looks so badly swollen that he doesn't want to inquire further.*
There's definitely an infection, but I'd say it's easy to treat.
*Is momentarily distracted by her dangly earrings.*
And why do you think your gnomes have - - what did you call it? Slashkit larves? That must be a continental kind, I have never heard of it, but I am not much into gardening.
*Moves his wand over the wound, carefully turning her hand.*

*Winces as he moves his wand over her hand, but bravely covers it up*
Well, Daddy says a Gernumbli bite will fill you with creative urges, so I know it wasn't that which caused the pain... but the Gernumblies have been acting peculiarly lately...
*Looks like she's thinking carefully*
This is all pure speculation, of course. It might not be Umgubular Slashkilter Larvae. It could be a completely unknown type of creature!
*Looks very excited*
If you find any strange little creatures in the wound, may I see them please?

*Smiles indulgently.*
Yes, sure.
*Hands her a little pill and a glass of water.*
This is just a quick painkiller. I need to re-open the bite. You must have been wandering around with that for some days, it has already started to heal.
*While he's talking to her, an idea forms in his head. Perhaps she would make a good guinea pig for his Muggle medicine experiments? Healer Smethwyck wasn't around to scold him*
Would you mind if I try a new treatment with you? It's probably easier too to find the little critters.

*Smiles dreamily at him, and takes the glass in her good hand*
Yes, it's been four days since I was bitten by the Gernumbli!
*Looks a little nervous, but then nods*
If it means I can find evidence of a new creature, I'll do it. It's all very exciting, really... I could write a report about it for the Quibbler. Daddy would be so proud!

*He's shocked.*
FOUR days? Dear Miss ...uh.. *looks at the form* ... Lovegood, you should have come right away! You never know what these gnomes have sunk their teeth into before!
*He touches the bite lightly to see if the pill has already taken effect and nods satisfied.*
Okay, here we go. *Takes out a small, sharp instrument with a leaf-like blade from his personal tools and cuts along the bite mark.*
The Muggles call this a scalpel. In my opinion it is way more accurate than opening the skin with a wand!
*A huge amount of pus oozes out, and he siphons a tiny bit into a little glass jar.*
Tergeo!
*Cleans the wound with a common spell. After all, this is quicker than Muggle stuff, one has to decide what's better for the individual situation.*
Tell me, have you ever heard of "antibiotics"?

*Tilts her head a little to the left, confused by his surprised reaction*
But Daddy says that Gernumbli bites are good for you. They fill you with sudden creative urges, but it doesn't always work. Since it bit me, I've been coming up with the most tremendously creative swear words! Although... I really should not repeat them here. It would not be polite.
*Watches, fascinated, as he reopens the wound, and is equally fascinated by how she can feel everything but cannot feel pain*
A scal-pel... am I saying that correctly?
*Goes a bit green when she sees the pus*
Well... I imagine that's NOT dozens of tiny Umgubular Slashkilter Larvae...
*The tight feeling in the wound vanishes as soon as he casts the cleaning charm*
Oh, that's much better already! Thank you very much.
*Furrows her brow a little*
Auntie Bioticks? I don't believe I have an Aunt by that name. Is she a relative of yours? It must be a fairly unusual name.

*chuckles at the thought of this sweet-looking witch swearing like a trooper*
I can very well imagine! Only, swearing isn't really creative, don't you think? Have Gernumbli bites ever given you the urge to paint or write?
*dabs the bright red flesh inside the wound with a clear liquid and smiles friendly at her. She's strange, but in her own way very amusing.*
This is an antibiotic. Not auntie, an-ti-bi-o-tic. It kills nasty little things that infect bites and such.
*while he's waiting for the liquid to dry up, he takes the jar, casts an Engorgement Charm at the drop of pus inside, and hands it over to her.*
Look here, can you see the tiny thread-like critters inside? They were infecting the bite. Maybe they are your ... globular slashkilters?

*Smiles*
The swears I was coming up with were... especially when my hand turned purple. Half of the things I came up with probably aren't even possible with magic. Unfortunately, they never seem to give me urges like that. I like painting, but my hand has hurt too much to paint lately.
*Watches him dab the antibiotic on, fascinated*
An-ti-bi-o-tic... Amazing! And how does it work? Is it poisonous to the infection?
*Her jaw drops when she looks at the contents of the jar - for the first time, proof of strange creatures she has often believed in for no reason!*
They don't look like how Daddy described them... What do you call them?
*Points at one particularly active creature inside the jar, following its movements*
|

Yes, exactly, it's like an antidote for the infection.
*He takes a small needle and a thread and soakes it in the antibiotic solution.*
Normally the little thingies are called bacteriae, but you can call them whatever you like. They will be dead shortly anyway. In the jar they can't survive.
*Taking her hand again he presses the wound.*
Is the painkiller still working or do you need more?

*Nods, completely fascinated by what he's telling her*
This is amazing... I will have to tell Daddy about this. Would you mind if it was mentioned in The Quibbler?
*Watches him with the needle and thread, wondering what he's doing*
Ah, I see... so they need a human body in order to survive?
*Feels him press the wound and shakes her head*
No, thank you... I can feel you pressing, but I can't feal pain just yet.

*He cannot help but laughing.*
No, I wouldn't mind at all. The Quibbler is a nice paper, we have it in the waiting room! Write all you want, just keep out my name, I don't care for being famous."
*Gus takes the needle and explains what he's going to do.*
I will stitch the wound together, I am sorry, I needed to cut very deep to get all the pus out and to see if there was anything damaged inside. Don't be afraid, Muggles do it all the time, and it works wonders!

*Beams, liking this man immensely for not mocking her father's paper*
Thank you very much, Healer Pye!
*Nods*
Of course! If it will help, I really don't mind. Although, I must ask... will I have to keep my hand sewn shut for always?
*Thinks for a moment, thinking how unusual a healing method it is*
You know, my father would be very interested to see all this.
