(OOC: This thread is continued from here~ puremalfoymanor.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=library&action=display&thread=7613&page=2)Jennessa did end up running all the way to her Dorm, sure she had been completely in control as she left the Library, but her steps had turned rapid, pounding on the ground beneath them. She had about run over a few people headed back to their dorms for the night, but she didn't hardly care. She wanted to get to the lake! It wasn't long before she made it to her door, threw her things on her bed and zipped back out without a word to any of the Hufflepuffs gathered in there. One could bet she earned some odd looks. Nessa didn't waste a moment. Vane was mistaken... The shiver wasn't one of negativity... No it was a thrilled and joyous quiver. Maybe a little edge of nerves, and thus her rapid steps carried her out of her door again and toward the Entrance Hall and two huge doors into the castle. She was carefull not to get caught, not certain she should be out at this point. But she didn't care too much. She was going out to meet Vane! Her heart skipped a beat at that and she hurried out into the cool night. That smile spread wide, lighting up even her eyes as she walked out along the well known grounds toward the lake. Her gaze was cast back and forth searchingly. She wondered if he were out yet, but didn't see him... She had booked it afterall and her dorm was closer to the Entrance Hall. It was not long before her steps carried her right to the lake's edge. She smiled warmly and gazed out over the waters. The lake was beautiful at night... So long as the squid wasn't up and around. And for now it didn't seem it was. She smiled as a gentle breeze picked up, sending ripples over the water. The breeze also brought a light shiver through her frame as she realized she had forgotten her jacket in her haste. And yet she didn't seem to care much. She wanted to find Vane here... To talk with him more... Just to be in his presence... To bask and enjoy... He gave her attention she wasn't accustomed to... Her eyes glittered joyfully as she realized Vane would be out there in just a few minutes. Yet the minutes dragged on... She glanced back toward the castle, hopes in her eyes that she would behold the snake walking down the lawns. But nothing... She only saw the lawns and the castle climbing up toward the sky behind them. No Vane... Nessa's brows furrowed a little. Surely it couldn't have taken him that long... What if he tricked her... What if he made a fool of her? Telling her he'd meet her out here... He was probably up in his dorm now, crowing and bragging to his housemates. Lovely... She turned her gaze back out to the lake. She felt the tears creeping up again... Had he just made a fool out of her? Oh if he had... Well that was more expected than his former actions and words... But he couldn't do that... Could he? Well she would wait still, gazing out over the lake, feeling her heart dropping. What if he had... Well... There wasn't anything for it. If he had, she was still going to enjoy her night. And there was still that slight chance that he was on his way right now. The thought brought the slightest smile to her lips. But all there was for it was to wait... To wait and see.

Vane took his sweet time in returning to his dorm in the dungeons and used the time to think over his options. Yes, he could go out to the lake and meet up with Jennessa...the Hufflepuff, -shudder- and maybe have a decent time with her. Or, he could just ignore the whole plan entirely and slither about with the rest of the snakes in the common room. But, there wasn't much fun in that any more, for none of them seemed to be interested in the same things as he anymore. Then again, he was probably just being far too selfish again, and was seeing the flaws in everyone other than himself. It was easier to do that anyway, it made him feel better to stroke his own ego, and frown upon the rest of the world.
Whatever it was, he didn't have time to dwell on at the moment. He had to make a decision, and having finally reached the side of his bed, after walking straight through the pit of vipers without even a glance, it was time to do so. Vane took a moment to turn about in place, making a full circle and taking in the empty dorm room. It was lonely, far too quiet, and void of anything that held any interest for him any more. He didn't want to sit there and have nothing to do, not even rereading Quidditch Through The Ages seemed like any fun, but he also didn't want to return to the chaos below. It was too noisy, utterly ridiculous, and far, far less enjoyable than sitting alone on the edge of his bed wishing he had something to do.
The hell with it. Vane dropped his bookbag and kicked it under his bed before shedding himself of his normal black Slytherin robes, and reaching into his open trunk for an expensive, deep blue travelling cloak. He kept on the black trousers he normally donned, but added a thick black jumper on top of the crisp white shirt and green and sliver tie to keep him warm as it was by the lake he where was to find Jennessa, and spring was still months off. Without another thought, the wizard swept from the dorm room as he wrapped himself up in his cloak, and walked right out of the common room, again, offering no voice to any he passed.
It was with a proud, almost authoritive manner that Vane moved quickly from the dungeon to the Entrance Hall and out of the castle, but inside he prayed no one would spot him and ask any questions. He really didn't want to waste time coming up with some half-ar$sed story. Thankfully, not once did he even hear the footsteps of another, and as he reached the dark school grounds he relaxed, certain no one would spot him now.
He reduced his gait to a stroll, and seemingly meandered over the cold grounds, acting as if he hadn't anything in mind as he headed toward the lake with is hands tucked warmly into the pockets of his cloak.

The minutes continued to drag by. Jennessa stood at the lake edge, but things were too quiet... And the breeze picked up every so often chilling the girl. She glanced up at the castle highly debating on going back up and grabbing her cloak. She quietly berated herself for not so much as grabbing anything warmer. But no. She would be fine... And yet edginess built up more and more within her. She glanced to the ground finding a few nicely shaped stones.
Dipping down, she would take hold of one and skip it across the lake. She grinned a little as it skipped three full times and then sank. She reached down for another finding quite a few stones for her throwing pleasure. But the throwing of the stones only gave her so much enjoyment. It was no fun throwing alone... Or being out here alone... Well... At the moment it wasn't. She sighed a little as she glanced up at the moon. Honestly... It felt like an hour had passed! In reality probably not that much time had passed... She sighed slightly feeling slightly hurt. He had tricked her... Surely. He didn't want to spend time with her. She was but a silly puff to think so. Then again she couldn't forget the way he looked at her when she spoke... She couldn't help but think of what she saw in his eyes...
Anger suddenly flared. How dare he... How dare he trick her so well? That was more painfull to her than any hexes or angry words tossed at her by Slytherins she had flirted with before... How could he? She fought back the stinging tears, being far more emotional for her own good and whirled around starting toward the castle again. And yet as she got hardly a few steps up the hill, a wonderful figure crested the very hill she was on her way up. She gaspd gently and her heart leapt up into her throat for the millionth time that night. "Vane!" She cringed as her exclamation of his name came out far too loud and shrill and excited than she thought it should. "Vane... Quite a nice night, don't you think?" She tried to amend it but the damage was already done, his ego would be stroked again with the enthusiasm of the witch.

Vane moseyed along toward the lake taking notice of the biting chill in the wind, and tucked himself further into his cloak, silently thankful for taking the time to add a sweater on under his thick cloak. The grounds were silent, though a different silence than the one he just came from in his dorm room. He could hear the light whoosh of the breeze as it blew right through him, rather than around, and the creaking of the old trees in the Forbidden Forest as they settled their roots deeper into the wonderfully enriched soil below. The silence oozing into Vane's ears had a calming effect, and any nerves he had from sneaking out had vanished as he grew closer to his destination and his...date?
No. This was not a date. It wasn't even remotely close to anything that could be properly constituted as a date. Vane was just meeting up with a girl that held his interest. No, not romantic interest, though he did keep thinking back to the way her blue eyes held his when they were chatting previously in the library, and when she tucked that colorful strand of hair behind her ear. He couldn't deny that she was very fit...but a Badger. Seriously? It had to be some kind of joke. He could never fancy a Hufflepuff, or so he told himself anyway, ready to deny and dismiss any inkling of a feeling he may have growing for Jennessa.
Reaching the top of the hill he had to edge over before actually laying sights on the edge of the lake, Vane grinned into the breeze, his thoughts still roaming over the way Jennessa acted as she chattered away, and how much he really liked to listen to her go on, and on...and on. Not once did the wizard offer up any information about himself while they were talking earlier, as he was too enchanted with the way Nessa became more and more animated the longer she continued. It was cute...she was cute.
"Vane!"
He jumped slightly, not expecting anyone to call out his name, and he froze to the spot while squinting into the darkness. Right then, the witch on his mind cropped up just below him on the hill, and he rolled his eyes. Did she really feel the need to yell and squeal at him like that? She very well might have woken up the whole freakin' castle in her excitement to see him.
Her excitement to see him? Vane's grin grew wider still. Jennessa was happy to see him, thrilled by the sounds of it, and it didn't bother him in the slightest. In fact, it tickled him to hear her enthusiasm, and he chuckled quietly before pulling his right hand from his cloak pocket to press to his lips. "Shhh!" You'll have McGonagall out here before you turn yourself into a pumpkin." Closer and closer he inched toward the witch, his own excitement growing within, but he was more in control of his emotions.

Jennessa couldn't help it... Perhaps it was irrational, but Nessa was feeling very attracted to this snake. But a lot of it for now was intrigue... He didn't shove her away, in fact with a lot of it tonight, he invited her closer... Then again it hit her hard when he suddenly went colder... Not that he really changed much, but her perception on his actions and words caused the flutter and sinking of her heart. She was but a silly girl, but this silly girl was quite taken with the snake that said he'd meet her tonight.
Jennessa wasn't sure what to call this... This meeting. Could it be a date? Hardly... Snakes didn't give her the time of day, much less give her a date. Nessa was a Hufflepuff... A badger... Badgers and snakes simply do not mix... Do they? Nessa was on the other side of things... She often fancied the snakes... But usually it was merely because she knew they wouldn't fancy her. A good arrangement for one afraid and unsure of love. But Vane seemed different from the rest... Perhaps only because he didn't hex the heck out of her when he lay eyes on her... Or perhaps there was something else...
The hill didn't seperate the two long, and indeed, as soon as he crested the hill, excitement fluttered in the girl's chest. She grinned brightly as she bounded right over to him like a silly lovesick pup. She saw his jump and it merely made her giggle. She grinned broadly up at him, though sheepishness still crept in again. Jennessa wasn't close enough to see his facial expressions when she called out his name, but she would come closer, now approaching more carefully.
Excitement and relief were dancing in her eyes as she neared him. She grinned as she barely caught his chuckle and shook back a bit of hair that dropped over her right eye. She looked up at him shyly through those long lashes, the lashes fluttering just the tiniest bit over those bright blue eyes. She had to look up to him, considering Nessa didn't find herself very tall, about a foot shorter than him in fact. His words brought a giggle from her lips but she covered it cutely with a hand, eyes lingering over where his finger touched his lips. "Sorry!" Her voice dropped in volume, but not intensity. Her excitement was absolutely bubbling over everywhere. But she was trying to reign it in... At least a little bit. "I'm glad you came..." She said, honest warmth in that voice and those eyes.

Vane's large ego was very partial to being stroked, the more often the better, and the tone in Jennessa's voice was doing a wonderful job of filling his head. Sadly, the tiny in voice his head started yelling at him. Saying how inappropiate it was to meet the witch out here, and that he should get his head out of his ar$e and return to the dorm. Only bad things can come of this, Vane., his conscious told him. Shuddup., Vane told it back and gave his head a light shake to scatter his thoughts, and focused his slowly forming smile upon the prettiest set of batting blue eyes he had ever gazed down upon. Again, Vane had to shake his head, for new thoughts were beginning to form, and those would definitely land him in serious amounts of trouble. Strangely, they weren't thoughts of malice, nor were they even remotely hostile, they were just...inappropiate. Or so, that's what he told himself.
Another chuckle slipped past Vane's lips the moment Jennessa and he were within inches of each other, her charged whisper amusing him with it's intensity. Yes, she dropped down the volume, but it didn't much matter, Jennessa's voice still could be heard plain as day. "S'alright.", he offered lowly with a sparkle of merriment in his own bright blue eyes. "Couldn't exactly find a reson not to." A soft shrug followed his reply because it was true, he hadn't a reason not to join her. Not only that, but he was also curious about her. She didn't seem to shy away from him they way other students have done time and time again. More so the Hufflepuffs than any would dash off in the other direction when he was spotted heaing in their direction, yet here was one that seemed to want to be near him. It was pretty confusing really, and he needed to know more about her. What makes Jennessa tick?

Nessa smiled brightly up at the snake as he stood near to her. If he stayed around her long, his ego would likely get a good deal of stroking often... Or at least until she realized that he really wasn't playing some game... And wasn't going to just run off on her tonight... But they would cross that bridge when they came to it. For now she merely enjoyed the attention she got while it lasted. Honestly she expected it to end in pain for her... Ridicule maybe... But oddly enough, that was alright by her. It was worth these small moments of fun, and it reassured her that someone wasn't falling for her, which was one of her larger fears. Sadly enough for Vane... No such consciounce was yelling at Nessa. She didn't think anything happening was wrong... Sure she was waiting for the axe to drop and for her to be crushed, but she did it with a light heart. She felt it was inevitable, so why worry about it? Weird girl... If any of darker true thoughts and feelings came out, it would likely be enough to scare anyone off... Well maybe anyone except for a darker snake... They might find it amusing.
Jennessa watched as Vane shook his head, and those bright carefree eyes turned a little darker with concern. She looked up to him, head tilting just the tiniest bit. "Are you alright?" She spoke softly, concern coating her voice and making it gentler. His head shaking... It reminded her of a horse trying to rid itself of some annoyance... A fly? Water in the ears? Something... Was that what she was? Some annoyance he would rather be rid of? Possibly... Even probably... But what was he still doing if that were the case? Goodness weren't these two just in fits... Both with conflicting thoughts, and yet longing to be in the presence of the other for just a while longer... Strange strange strange.
Soon enough, however, the chuckle from Vane brought that smile leaping back upon the girl's face. She grinned up at him, though the closeness made her shy a little. But she didn't back down. Brave little badger... But no hostility tensed her frame, no fear clouded her eyes. Only eager excitement. She giggled a little as the only word he said was uttered. She shook her head in amusement and clucked her tongue lightly. "Not a man of very many words are you?" She rose her eyebrow in a look of mock seriousness... But couldn't hold it long and that grin split and a light laugh came forth. She shook her head a little and turned her gaze, glancing behind her at the way the moonlight danced over the lake. She gasped gently and smiled, her eyes glittering with wonder. "Isn't it beautiful...?" She turned back to him, those eyes still glittering. Goodness what was this girl, a child? Hardly... But somehow that childlike amazement still shone in those eyes...
Poor boy... If Nessa knew how much she was confusing and perplexing him she might start shaping up and acting Hufflepuff-like... But then again probably not.

Each and every smile Jennessa gave Vane appeared genuine to the wizard, as if she couldn't have been doing anything more exciting than walking along with him toward the lake. Vane couldn't wrap his head around the idea, let alone the fact it was actually happening, and he hardly heard the question asked. "Hmm?", he returned, tilting his head to indicate he didn't quite catch it, but at the same moment her words finally hit. Vane blinked, once again narrowing his focus back to the witch at hand, and nodded. "Yes, m'fine. Just remembered...I've an essay due first thing in the morning." The lie slipped with ease from his tongue, and yet the truth was right there in his eyes, not hidden too far from the surface.
It wasn't but a blink of an eye, and that sweet, beaming smile was brought back to Jennessa's lips. And, once again, Vane was sucked in. This time however, it happened too quickly for him to recognize, and he couldn't catch himself in time, the badger's charm had cracked the hardened shell Vane wore like amour to protect himself from allowing any too close. "Do not speak- unless it improves on silence.", he repeated, having heard this quote many a time throughout his childhood. His tone might have sounded serious as he imitated his father in answering the witch, but he kept his expression light, making sure Jennessa knew he wasn't dismissing her. It was when she laughed that his true mood shined through, for he joined in, his own hearty laugh being carried off with the wind.
Yes, he laughed much too loudly, he knew it right away, and immediately Vane snapped his mouth shut, praying that no one was lurking about to overhear them together. He tore his sights away from Jennessa long enough to have a look-see, and was promptly mollified. No one, that he could see anyway, was to be spied, which eased Vane's mind, and he returned looking to Jennessa, expecting her eyes to be on him. They weren't, instead, her pretty baby blues were looking off the other direction, toward Black Lake. A frown tugged at the corners of Vane's mouth just as a stab of annoyance sprung on him. He didn't want to share her attention with a blasted puddle of water, but the tone of her voice washed all that quickly away when she commented on the sight ahead.
Vane didn't avert his gaze from the witch, having laid eyes far too many times on the lake to count, and opted for taking the opportunity of having her attention diverted to appreciate the sight he was enjoying. "Quite." Vane's acknowledgement came softly, for his tone held the truth in his opinion. Seemed the young viper, while willing to die in battle denying any of this information, was learning to find beauty in all sorts unexpected places.

Jennessa seemed to shine brilliantly in the moonlight, her inner joy simply radiating out to light up that pretty little face. And every smile she gave was genuine. She was overjoyed to be here with him. She had taken a shine to him sure enough... Yet she knew very well it couldn't last. It wasn't doubtful that word of Jennessa spread through the Snake pit... At least among some of the males in the house... Nessa was somewhat choosey but most of those she chose to flirt with were out of the snake house. And yet they all ended in her being hexed and usually sent to the Hospital Wing. She knew the Nurse very well. Yet it was true... At this moment, there was nothing in the world Nessa wanted to be doing, other than to be walking beside Vane, basked in moonlight, and enjoying the sight of the lake... Her eyes kept moving to his, however, searching them for some clue that he felt the same. Her searches were rapid so not to make him feel awkward, but they were there still. Concern for the wizard darkened her demeanor just a little as she inquired as to his well being. She watched as he tilted his head as well, unable to hold back a slight grin as he asked what she had said. Yet just as she was about to repeat herself, breath taken and words on her tongue, he went on. Her breath came out in a soft whoosh and she grinned a little as she listened to his reply. Her gaze was locked on those eyes... Those beautiful wonderful eyes... His words reached her ears and slid into her mind, and inwardly she winced. Ah his escape clause... He really didn't want to be with her, and now here was the excuse to go back to the castle... Right? And yet there was something in his eyes... Something that was hidden but not entirely well... It was as if it stood behind a tree that was not quite big enough to keep it from view... Then Vane continued on toward the lake with her! He wasn't turning back? He didn't so much as turn back to look at the castle at this time. "Those darn essays... Mine's not due until later in the day, but I know what you mean... But you do know... Tomorrow's Sunday..." She grinned a little as those eyes darted back up to his, dancing in amusement. She giggled at catching his lie and would bound off a few paces until she reached the lakeside first, glancing back to him with a bit of a flirtatious grin, nothing over the top, but just a tiny bit different from her former smiles. It was not long before Vane caught up to her, for she hadn't gone far. And as he replied to her fun little jibe, she grinned a smile that reached up to alight her eyes again. His words made those eyes widen just a little, but the grin not diminish. She tried hard to pull her face back into a serious manner. She nodded, managing to keep that face for a full three seconds before it split with a giggle. But she nodded once more. "Something I should keep in mind sometimes!" Mirth lit up that face still, it was a wonder one could keep being happy so long and so effortlessly. She grinned at his laugh as it came, infectious as it was, she had been laughing the whole time it seemed, but his laughter brought all sorts of happy joy soaring through her. Goodness... Was this girl all Rainbows and Butterflies? Perhaps... Or perhaps not. Who knew? As his laugh snapped off, Nessa followed suit. It looked almost comical as her mouth snapped shut with an audible snap and she looked around as well as he moved his gaze up to the castle. She looked around in a conspirational manner to see if they had gotten caught. But it seemed the coast was clear... Although Jennessa's gaze had been rather distracted as it swept over the lake. Poor Vane... He was with a somewhat ADD little creature. Of course she didn't notice the frown or how he didn't seem to like her attention being diverted... If she had a flutter would have been felt in her chest... But she didn't, so it was no more than the awe of the lake. It was not long that the beautifulness of the lake held Jennessa's gaze... It was soon returned to Vane's eyes. She smiled shyly when she saw his were on her. Wonder snapped through her mind, only briefly flashing through her eyes. Had he looked at the lake at all? But if not that was fine, and she dismissed the thoughts completely. She smiled warmly at him and moved just slightly closer, feeling a shiver dart through her. Good going Nessa... So excited to get out here... She forgot some necessities. But the warmth of Vane drew her in, and yet she would not break boundaries too much, not wishing to upset him in the least. "I think I would like to share silence with you Vane..." Those last words were likely odd... And yet there was significance behind them... Silence could be awkward... Or it could be wonderfull... It all depended on how you looked at it and who you were with. Great... Juliette was falling for Romeo... OOC: <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Love this thread! But oh by the way... Not sure his excuse works... Lol I thought we had this thread taking place on Saturday. At least the Library one did. I had her notice, but I can take that out if you want Vane's little lie to go unnoticed

Vane blinked, caught off guard, and in his lie. He looked to Jennessa, features void of any expression and the truth his traitorous eyes nearly gave way gone, vanished as if it had never been there. "Oh. Right. Keep thinking today is Sunday." A light shrug lifted his shoulders as he appeared unconcerned with his "mistake" before she shot off ahead.
The steps he took in closing the gap between him and Jennessa became light when she had looked back to him after reaching the edge of the lake. She really had a cute smile, it fit perfectly with her personality, but she wasn't flirting with him was she? Her grin was addictive as well, and a crooked one formed of it's own accord on Vane's lips as he took a quick moment to contemplate what he just saw. Was she really brave enough to flirt with him?
There may be quite a few other snakes Vane shared the dorms with that were well aware of Jennessa's peculiar fondness for Slytherins, but our young wizard here, was totally oblivious to any rumors of her. Such as shame too, Vane adores to hear any bits of gossip going on about the school, and he's certainly going to be put off if he's the last to hear Jennessa's story.
"I think I would like to share the silence with you, Vane."
His brows shot up, gaze unmoved from the witch, even when she turned herself back about toward him. "The silence, eh?" Vane's grin widened with disbelief, then he shot a quick glance out to the lake. "Didn't we just share enough of it a moment ago?" Of course, now that she wishes to be quiet, he can't seem to find the ability to do so. "I don't want you to go away with the impression that I'm not the least bit articulate. Maybe we should change the subject from silence to something we both fancy?"

As Vane blinked, Nessa would blink as well, wincing a little. Why did she have to say that... Know it all much? But she had remained playfull, not seeming to mind one bit. She looked into his eyes, but that odd look was gone quickly. She searched his eyes quietly, wondering where it went. But would give up before long. She nodded a little. "Easy to do... Weekends are like that. I'm very glad tonight is Saturday though... Still have that Transfigurations essay to do... And you have yours as well." Her eyes glittered in amusement but she nodded a little, but the lie wouldn't really bother her at all.
She giggled and glanced back at him, having not run all that far, but had reached the lake first. She watched as he closed the gap coming to the edge of the lake with her. She glanced over the water once again but soon moved her eyes back to his, that shy smile creeping back into place to take the place of that wide one. Now... It was very possible that the girl was flirting with him... She held quite a bit of bold bravery... Especially for a Hufflepuff. But it was mostly a guard for her heart. She knew the snakes couldn't return her affections so they were safe... At least emotionally. Physically they were likely the most dangerous things on two legs, but hey... That was fine by her.
Jennessa, now in her sixth year, had flirted with quite a few snake guys... But how many would really brag about the puff flirting with them? Honestly... It was likely more of a joke than anything, for she often got herself hexed, and yet she came back to the snakes time after time. Apperantly she was just certain she would worm their way into their hearts or something... Honestly Snakes and Lions made the best allies... Snakes perhaps better if they didn't backstab you.
The girl watched his features, her gentle blue eyes searching his as she spoke. She felt that Vane valued silence... And she could easily stand it, so why not share it with him if it was what he might wish? And yet as his words continued, and his grin spread, her grins spread as well, and tiny laughs rang forth. Jennessa followed his glance and looked to the lake before suddenly dropping to grab up a smooth flat stone. It perplexed her a little, that now, offered silence, he chose to continue talking. Not that she minded in the least! "We did I suppose! But as long as it's not the awkward kind, silence isn't really something you can have too much of." And oddly enough the female actually believed that. She didn't always have to fill every second with blather and giggles...
His next words brought a warm smile to her lips, and a light glow to her eyes. She glanced at the lake before chucking the stone she had been rubbing in between her fingers, watching and hearing it hit the water no less than four times before sinking. She grinned and shook her head gently. "No chance in that I assure you... But I'd be alright with that. What do you enjoy doing? Maybe we could start there." She smiled at him. Aside from hexing Hufflepuffs She thought... That seemed to be a typical Slytherin response. But she would await his next words wondering if they had anything in common. For up to this point, only the mutual intriuge linked them together.

Vane watched as Jennessa threw the stone out over the water where he heard it skip lightly over the surface before losing steam, and plunging beneath the surface. He flicked another glance to the lake, unable to see where the stone may have disappeared in the darkness before settling it once again on Nessa, and shaking his own head. "No? You're certain?", he asked, a slight teasing edge to his tone taking hold.
It was then a sparkle lit his brilliant blue eyes and his features, because talking about Vane was his favourite subject. Normally, the snake would jump at the offer to chatter endlessly about how amazing he was, but for some strange reason he clamed up. Perhaps not ready to share too much information with the badger, not that he worried she might blab to the entire school their conversation -he had the feeling she was aware he could hex her at a moment's notice.- and spread rumours. "You first." His words came quickly and his feet kicked a few stones lightly toward the shore.

Nessa grinned a little as she watched the stone skip a few times before sinking. She stooped down quickly after to draw up another stone, before looking up to meet Vane's gaze again. She straightened up once more, holding that stone longer this time. She shook her head gently with a warm smile. "I'm never certain, but I'm pretty sure." Her eyes glittered playfully as she caught his teasing bit, and returned it with some of her own.
Jennessa grinned just a little as his eyes glittered. Her own eyes sparked just a bit. Nessa didn't really care to talk about herself as much, she'd much prefer to listen or talk about others and learn about them than devulge too much about herself. She knew that was dangerous... And yet she didn't seem to show much care in hiding what she should. But it seemed Vane was of a similar opinion at the moment? But that was fine with her. She didn't expect to learn much about him or get too close to him at all. But she was already closer than she had intended to ever get! She smiled warmly at him, also knowing that he could decide to just hex her and be done with it... And yet she didn't show that knowledge at all.
She tilted her head a little at his words and she shook her head a little. "I asked you first..." Her turn to tease now, and she grinned sweetly at him before shaking her head a little. "Nothing real interesting about me... I mean I absolutely love to duel... It's my Favourite thing to do outside of classes..." She smiled and nodded as she stepped back, and drew her wand, spinning it between her fingers before allowing it to spout little multicolored bubbles while she spun it, making quite the cute effect. She giggled a little at this, and shook her head a little, knowing it wasn't a show of what she just said she loved to do. "Alright your turn!" She spoke cutely as she stopped the spinning of her wand and allowed the bubbles to pop slowly.

Vane's grin twisted when Jennessa insisted he suggest something that interests him as a topic for their conversation. It was his experience with witches that the subject of Quidditch could go either way for him, but usually any girl he fancies doesn't like the sport. Something about Slytherin witches and their dislike for the outdoors, or anything that might even cause a glisten to shine on their skin has always had Vane baffled. Alright, not every witch in Slytherin House loathed Quidditch, but as it normally goes, the few often make the majority look bad.
He kept his hands tucked warmly within the depths of his pockets, watching as Jennessa took a step or two back while pulling out her wand before a curious brow was to be lifted. Bubbles? ...Seriously? She's a very...curious witch. Vane bit back the laughter threatening to split his sides open as the bubbles spilling from the tip of Jennessa's wand floated around them, a few popping against his cheeks and chin along the way. "Quidditch.", he stated simply, now looking very serious. "I would quite literally die if I could no longer play Quidditch."
The Quidditch player within Vane instantly took over, changing his whole demeanor entirely. He could even feel the atmosphere around him become thicker, more serious, and his expression grew intense. "When I'm flying it feels like... I can never go high enough, fast enough, nor even far enough." Vane's blue eyes were fixed on Jennessa's as he spoke, but he wasn't exactly seeing her right there in front of him. He was more focused on the feeling of flying to actually see Jennessa standing there, and he was basically looking through her.

Jennessa smiled warmly at him as his grin shifted a bit. She wasn't sure why it did, but it wasn't unfriendly or frightening... SO surely he wasn't about to inform her that he liked hexing Hufflepuffs the best... That was a bit of relief... And yet some anxiety that this could still be what was coming bubbled up in Nessa's chest. Now Jennessa was an odd girl if that was the normality. She enjoyed being outdoors just fine... She just enjoyed having her feet firmly on the ground.
Her eyes wandered down to where his hands were tucked and she was reminded just how chilly it was out here. She suppressed shiver quickly before performing her cute little dance. Oh yes... Silly it was indeed... And not really a show of how she dueled... But then again that seemed to be a typical tactic of Nessa's... Lure the enemy into a false sense of security... Make them think she's just some air headed silly one to jump into the dueling... Then bam! Prove them wrong! Sometimes this failed... But she was becoming quite adept at making this tactic succeed. Nessa grinned as she whirled around to face him again, grinning at the look on his face. It looked very much like he was trying not to laugh, but she didn't mind. She found his attempts and her little act very cute.
Ah then it came out... What this boy was all about! Quidditch... Vane was a flyer. A cringe darted across her face, and she nodded a little, listening intently to his continued words. She smiled warmly as she saw the far away look in his eyes... The way he spoke of Quidditch was delightful... Although quite a bit of fear crept into Nessa's eyes at the very idea. Especially when he spoke of not feeling as if he is able to fly high enough... Little known about Nessa... She was terrfied of heights... Beyond terrified... It was a paralyzing fear. She finally spoke, a softness in her voice. "I could see that... I've never watched a game, but I bet you're amazing at it..." She smiled at his faraway look and knew what was on his mind. An odd desire dashed through her... She wanted him to look like that while thinking of her... And yet that wistful thought would quickly be dashed from her thoughts.
She grinned a little and nodded, listening intently and letting him talk about himself for as long as he wanted to. She didn't mind listening, and she loved to watch his eyes and the look in them as well as how his face moved, him looking almost as if he were doing it now... Up in the air as he spoke of it. That was alright by her, and yet she couldn't help but feel a little creeping shiver dart through her at the very thought of being up doing that... She never dreamed of flying... It was her one greatest fear... And thus never a thought she had, and to think of Vane doing just that... Would worry her to no end at this point.
