*Pius entered the conference room of the auror office, a long room fit for serving at least 20 other witches and wizards. It had a long, polished oak table in the center, surrounded by 20 high backed chairs. Pius took a seat at the head of the table and laid out several pieces of parchment over the current court matter and awaited the other's arrival.*
*Many of the high officials of the Ministry arrived and took their seats*
Geetings to you all, I hope your day has been well. I believe we all know the reason for the meeting. The trial of Rydiger von Heap is to take place in a few days and I believe we should set up our line of questioning and gather all of our evidence before we place it before Minister Scrimgeour. OOC: I apologize for godmoding slightly, I would like to get this going as soon as possible and avoid the cluttering of people entering and giving the normal rotation of pleasantries.

*He put his face in his hands and pulled them down stretching his face for a moment before replying. He had already had enough of this case.*
All right Pius. What do you make of it so far?

The events that unfolded concerning his arrival and involvement in the assassination attempt seem incredibly suspicious. Do we have a confirmation that the German Minister of Magic even sent him to us? And if so, why? I am not aware that Mr. Robards needed any assistance in running his job. If Mr. von Heap came of his own volution, then I would certainly wish to hear first hand accounts of what he said during the battle at Arthur Weasley's home.
*picks up a piece of parchment and scans over it*
He was spotted by several aurors and began attacking Mr. Robards. Of course, Mr. von Heap has sustained that he was under the influence of the Imperius Curse. If this was true, then did he happen to give off any overt signs that he was not under such an influence?

*Cornelius took his seat, fiddled with his lime green bowler hat as he re-read the notes*
Merlin's beard, not this chap again ...
*He muttered*
*He looked up at Pius Thicknesse and said*
I've encountered Heap on the Wizengamot on several occasions. Be prepared to be filibustered*. That wizard could talk the hind legs off a hippogriff, believe me, but I doubt it will save him this time. This looks pretty damning to me.

*He was suitably irritated by the series of events too, and had had a headache for a couple of days to rub it in.*
We only know he was there because the damned fool told us. Admitted to trying to kill me too. He best hope he was under someone elses control else I'll make him regret ever setting foot in the country.

*Pius nodded in agreement with Fudge*
Agreed Gawain, but in order to put this man away we are going to have solid proof that he was not under the Imperius. The battle, from what I was told, was rather large and involved many aurors, one had to at least see something or hear something from him. Those under the curse do not normally show much emotion while fighting, if we can prove that in the beginning, it will make this trial quick and firm. Unless anyone else has another path of questioning they wish to bring forward.

*Fudge scratched his balding head*
Could we get approval for use of Veritaserum? That way he can't wriggle his way out of it.

He's got a distinctive accent, if I recall. Maybe someone would remember his voice?
*Looks hopeful*

*He shook his head at Fudge's suggestion, with a look of disappointment about his own answer.*
Unfortunately the Law does not allow it in court. It's effects are not always completely accurate and can't be taken as evidence.

Hmmm...
*Scanning over another parchment, Pius noticed something.*
If he was able to recount specific things from the battle, when we know the Imperius Curse would render him unable to do so, then this is proof that he was acting upon his own will.

::Taking his seat beside Elric, Dawlish listened to all the officials before speaking.::
I personally think we need to look into his past and compare the facts to what he has said. There is something "off" about this man. No doubt, he is hiding... something.

*Shifts uncomfortably*
Er, not at all, Marwood.
*Thinks*
What are we pushing for? Dementor's Kiss, or lifelong imprisonment? And will this damage our relationship with the German Ministry? Maybe it would be best to deport him back to Germany, let them deal with him.
*Looks at Robards*
Not trying to excuse the fact that he made an attempt on your life, old chap, just thinking that perhaps the Department of International Magical Co-operation might want to weigh in on this.

*Looks at Dawlish*
You bring up an excellent point Mr. Dawlish. I do not remember receiving any owl from the German Minister of Magic concerning one of his ministry members entering our boarders. It would be most irregular for such a thing to happen without them contacting us."
*sighing, Pius nodded in agreement with Fudge*
Deportment would be appropriate if he was indeed sent by them, if not... he could be a rogue agent at best, a Death Eater who managed to masquerade as a Ministry official for weeks at worst. Does anyone have any input on this man's past here or anywhere?
