*Hogsmeade's quaint, happy air seemed dull and nervous in these dark days. The shop windows were crowded with wanted posters and and advertisements on how to keep yourself safe if you come face to face with a Death Eater. Faye chuckled slightly to herself at the sight of them. She knew for a fact that there was no way to stay safe if you came face to face with a Death Eater.*
*Around her the other Hogwarts student looked out of place in this anxious place. Clusters of girls were standing around, chattering on about superficial things like which boy was cute, or what love potion's worked, or if it was 'morally okay to date a Slytherin'.*
*Faye gazed at them with a mixture of pity and jealously. She couldn't remember one day in her short life where she could stop to giggle and gossip without the ever present fear of someone smacking her over the head for dallying around in the clouds. The mere idea of having someone willing to talk to her about that stuff was boggling.*
Not that I'd be any good at it if I tried...
*How could these girl just stop and forget about what was going on? Were none of them afraid that tomorrow Professor McGonagall would show up and tell them their mother's been murdered? Where none of them agonizing the way Faye was about where they'd fit into this dangerous new world once they left Hogwarts?*
*The idea of being so carefree was... Startling. And completely ridiculous. They needed to prepare, otherwise everyone of them would end up dead.*
You didn't come here today to wonder at the stupidity of others Faye! She sternly told herself. Get to the quill shop, get what you need and get back to the castle. Grandmother would be furious to find you wasting your time like this. The only reason she even permits you to go to Hogsmeade is to shop, so you better do just that before she takes away this privilege as well!
