Gen stepped out of bright green flames into the familiar Hog's Head Inn. As usual, the pub was dark, dusty and smelled dreadfully of goats. She couldn't help but smile though. She had lots of memories of this place as a young Slytherin and they were all rushing back to her now as if she'd been gone for years. A snicker escaped her lips as she reminded herself that it hadn't been long at all since she graduated Hogwarts, that she was being silly in her fond reminscence. But she did have a reason to smile, a very good one. It was the reason she was here today. The reason she had that fluttery feeling in her stomach. Francis.
The amazing "secret" romance they had shared during their last year at Hogwarts had come to an abrupt end when they went their separate ways. The pureblood slytherin princess back to her perfectly magical world and the half-blood hufflepuff rebel to his almost completely muggle lifestyle. They were such opposite forces of nature that they should have expected it, right? Well no, that was not the case. He had promised that it wouldn't be goodbye, that he would write to her, that they would meet again soon...and she believed him. But to her great disappointment he didn't do any of those things.
She went through the typical phases of sadness, self-doubt and anger before an owl finally showed up, months later, and the anger and indifference she had settled herself into feeling were suddenly being questioned. He missed her, he wanted to see her, and he took the blame for their separation. Should she forgive and forget? Or should she do the wise thing and "let sleeping dogs lie" as they say?
Well, this snake was not going to let the badger get away without a fight. She would at the very least demand an explanation. That's why she was here. And the smile? Well, let's just say she had missed him too.
