*continuing*
Of course, I would rather carry around my wand. Staffs are used often by older wizards who need the their powers magnified. They are unpractical in battle and daily use, simply ceremonial.

*nods at the professor in agreement that staff's aren't very practical in conflict, but can't look at him with a straight face. Mutters to Elena*
I can't believe you
*Trying not to laugh*

*Passes out* Here, the Board of Governor's wishes me to teach more to-the-book material so have fun reading this.
Most human magic is done using a wand. It is possible to cast spells without using a wand, but for most wizards results are unfocused. House-elves and goblins are not permitted to carry wands, which is a matter of some resentment, at least for the latter.
Wands are created from wood with some magical substance at its heart. Wands are classified by means of four characteristics: length, type of wood, quality of motion when waved, and type of magical ingredient. In Britain, the most well-known wandmaker is Mr. Ollivander. His shop, Ollivander's (Makers of Fine Wands since 382 B.C.) is located in Diagon Alley. Another European wandmaker is Gregorovitch. When a wand is damaged or broken, its effects can be unpredictable, even if patched together with Spellotape.
Although there is no specific rule about which kind of wood a person's wand should be, some wands are particularly well suited to their owners. ((HP Lexicon))

*Reads and writes little notes, not sure wether or not they get to keep them*
*raises hand*
Is there a specific reason why house elves and goblins can't use wands?

*looks up from his desk*
Indeed. Magic is power, you need wands to do magic. Thus, withholding wands from these creatures keeps them in a lower strata than wizards....it's how the hierarchy is maintained. It infuritaes goblins to no end, but house elves have learned to live.
*looks back down at the report on his desk, the orderly him to make some changes to his class or face dismissal*

This is kinda boring compared to all the professor's usual demos. I think the Board's a bunch od ninnies.
*to Prof* You know, I bet you could just continue with your curriculum and neglect the Board. I mean, none of us herr would rat you out.
Would you, Noelle?

Well then. Go ahead and burn those in any way you wish and let's get back to the lesson.
I wand you to switch wands and try out a few spells. Makes sure to note anything odd you yourself feel ot any problems you have in spellcasting.

Sweet!
*Exchanges wands with Elena, already feeling slightly strange without her own. Points the wand at the paper*
Wingardium Leviosa
*Swishes and flicks the wand, and it shreds the paper*
