Jennessa grinned brightly as Nancy moved to sit there across from her. She glanced down and would take up a small bit of food, considering her stomach snarled to remind her to eat, chewing it as Nancy responded. She nodded a little at this that smile still there. "Good to hear... I've been- Shoot... We have an essay for Flitwick?" Nessa cringed at this, having forgotten all about it. "I thought he just wanted us to practice that new charm he taught us." She shook her head a little bit. Usually Nessa was very with it with Charms, it was her best subject afterall. "Well I was going to say finishing my homework, but I think I have a bit more to do." She grinned a little suddenly remembering Flitwick assigning it and what it was on and all. "I hope my brain works a little more today... But I know what you mean! I was trying to get my homework done and it took me a full two hours longer than I thought it was. I worked straight through Lunch." She shook her head a little. "Oh well..." She took another bite chewing thoughtfully. "Did homework take up your entire day?" It was Sunday, so more classes tomorrow... Lovely.

Nancy smiled sympathetically at this. "It didn't take all day seeing as I slept in 'til around 12, but hey, sleep's productive, right?" She grinned and took another sip of pumpkin juice. "It took longer than it should have done, I just couldn't concentrate. If you try, you should be able to get it done tonight. I just kept letting myself get distracted by the various songs I had dancing around my head." She hummed at bit of 'A Spoonful Of Sugar' from 'Mary Poppins' and laughed. "Don't ask why that one, of all songs. I haven't seen the film in years. I just woke up and there it was!" It had been one of her favourites as a child: she and her dad had always sung along together. She made a mental note to watch it with him when she went home again.

*Nessa nodded quickly with a broad grin* Oh yes, sleep is very productive. I got to sleep really early last night so I only slept in until nine. Then I went for a walk out to the lake to sit out there for a while. I tried to do some of my homework out there but... I fear we have a similiar problem... I got way too distracted. *She giggled a little* That and the giant squid decided to come visiting and freaked me out.
*Nods as she poured herself some Pumpkin juice too, taking a sip of it. Another giggle came forth and she nodded once more.* Oh I know what you mean on that one too! *Giggle* I have had the song Hakkuna Matata stuck in my head all day... When I was writing that bit for Defence against the Dark Arts I started dozing off and writing those lyrics on the paper... *Laughs a little.* Darn songs... But I haven't seen Mary Poppins in ages... I should watch it sometime... Maybe next time I go home...
*Thoughtful look as she chewed another bite.* Yea... It didn't sound too difficult when Flitwick was explaining it... So as long as I can focus it should be fine. Sadly I don't have the option to sleep in tomorrow if I stay up too late tonight! *Winces but nods* Ah well it will work out I'm sure... So... Do you have anything fun planned for this evening?

Nancy shivered. "Yeah, that giant squid does freak me out a bit." It had given her a great shock in her first week when she was walking by the lake, and since then she had tried to avoid it as much as was possible.
She laughed at the Hakuna Matata comment. "That one does have a tendency to stick in your head! Most Disney songs do. My favourite has to be Pocahontas though, as much as I love The Lion King. That's one thing I think entirely wizarding families really miss out on: a good bit of Disney. I was so glad I had my Dad to show me the films when I was little. And in the holidays, of course!"
She took another bite and thought about what she might do that evening. "Well...I don't have any particularly urgent work to do, so I'll take the night off. Might just relax in the common room with the latest issue of Witch Weekly. Unless anything more exciting comes up, of course."

*Jennessa nodded even more, goodness the girl was starting to look like a bobble head doll. But she would soon stop, eyes wide with fear of the thought.* Oh I know! I just glanced up and it was waving it's tentacles around. Oh I screamed so loud! Then I was out of there... Pretty sure the group of Slytherins that were out there saw it though... *Her face turned a light shade of red at this and she shook her head some. It was odd, but Jennessa seemed to fancy Slytherin boys more often than not...*
*The fear and embarrasement soon evaporated as she thought of Disney, and she giggled a little bit.* No kidding! But they're all so good! *Listened to her words on favourites and thought for a moment.* I'm not sure I could pick a Favourite... I just love them all! But Pocahontas is definately up there on the list. My mum enjoyed them when she was young. She has the entire collection. *Bright smile* I didn't know you liked Disney... That's so cool! *Grins even more broadly at her.* Yea... Those all wizarding folks don't know what they're missing. Guess we have the best of both worlds huh?
*Would follow suit and take a moment to enjoy another bite of her meal, letting Nancy think.* That sounds like fun. A quiet night is certainly a good thing every so often... I think I might join you while I do my essay. I think I know what I'm going to write, so it shouldn't take a huge long time. Then maybe after we could go see what's going on around the castle. *A glimmer lit up her eyes. Jennessa was the gentle kind one, but she also enjoyed the odd prank every once in a while, and tended to quite enjoy harmless mischief.*

Nancy gasped mockingly at Jennessa's proposition. "I do hope you aren't suggesting any mischief?" she said jokingly, "Because, you know, that just isn't fair on poor, innocent Filch." Nancy giggled at this and then continued. "I'm only joking. You've actually suggested that at just the right time: Filch has really been irritating me lately. I swear, it was only a tiny bit of mud I walked into the castle, but he still went ballistic, shouting and ranting about how students don't respect the castle, etcetera, etcetera. You know what he's like. Doing something to get back at him sounds like a perfect way to spend an evening." Nancy smiled at her new partner in crime, and started to concoct ideas about what would be the best thing to do.

Jennessa watched Nancy's gasp and heard her words, wincing just a little bit inwardly. Not all the Hufflepuffs enjoyed pranks, in fact that wasn't common in her house at all... For a moment she figured Nancy wouldn't like them either... She allowed her gaze to falter, looking down for the moment. "Um... No no of course not... I wouldn't suggest-" And she shut up as soon as quickly as she started, hearing Nancy's giggles. A light pink rose to her cheeks and she nodded a little, breath whooshing forth. She was relieved that Nancy didn't seem to mind her mischievous thoughts.
She grinned broadly at her as she spoke of Filch's freak out attack. She rolled her eyes and huffed a little. "Oh I know! I dropped one of my ink bottles in the hall just outside the Hufflepuff common room and he went berserk... It was an accident for goodness sake... And I intended to clean it up..." She huffed a little but smiled warmly at her. That glitter sparked again as she thought. "I got some fun things Weasley's Wizard Wheezies..." She spoke in undertones, practically purring as she spoke. Oh she had great plans for them... And Nancy seemed the perfect one to share it with.

"Weasley's Wizard Wheezes is brilliant !" Nancy exclaimed. "Zonko's just can't compete. What kind of stuff have you got? I'm running low at the moment. I'm going to ask mum to send me a fresh supply of my favourites by owl as soon as possible. I especially need more skiving snackboxes: I've only got nosebleed nougat left and I don't like using that one, it's too messy." She made a mental note to remember to ask her mum in her next letter home. She really needed to write home again; she'd left it quite a long time since her last letter and she was starting to feel guilty.
Though she cast her mind around, nothing quite appropriate came to mind about what would be the best prank to play on Filch. She hadn't pulled one for a while so she was quite looking forward to experiencing the thrill of it again. It reminded her of when she was still at school with the muggles, before she knew she was a witch, and how she and her friends using to play childish jokes on the teachers. While that was fun, having the option of using magic to assist in her mischief really was a great improvement on the traditional drawing pin on the seat trick.
"Have you any ideas for a good prank for Filch?" Nancy asked Jennessa. "I'm suffering from a bit of a mental block unfortunately."

Ellie skipped along the Great Hall, deliberately making a detour for the Hufflepuff tables.
Wispering "du-u-u-mb" to herself, she smacked Janessa, Nancy, and Francis on the head in passing, and proceeded to the Ravenclaw table.
With a grunting noise she greeted her classmate Tina, and a boy whos name she couldn't reatain.

Sitting at the Slytherin table with a copy of the Daily Prophet in one hand and a glass of pumpkin juice in the other, Gen happened to look up just in time to catch Ellie walking by the Huff table and smacking a few students in the head as she did so. Although she was surprised to see a Ravenclaw acting that way, she still found it terribly funny and couldn't help but let out a loud chuckle before returning her gaze to the newspaper and acting as if she hadn't seen a thing.

Francis had been watching Gen out of the corner of his eye over his bread roll, occaisionally pulling bits off and popping them in his mouth without paying much attention. He'd just put a piece in and started to chew when someone's hand connected with the back of his head. He choked on the bread as it went down the wrong way. He managed to get his throat clear again after a few heavy coughs, and threw down the remains of his roll as he stood up from the bench, whirling to see who had hit him. He was expecting to see green trimmed robes, but the culprit was a Ravenclaw. Making a mental note to be surprised later, Francis stepped out from the bench, noticing that the girl had hit two of his housemates too. He wasn't much for Hufflepuff solidarity, but he wasn't going to just sit there and let himself get victimised, especially by some bullish girl. "Oi," he yelled after her, his face stormy. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"

Gen's eyes flew back up at the sound of Francis' voice. Her mouth dropped in shock at both not having realised that it was him at the table and the fact that he was now up confronting the girl. She grew anxious then, wanting nothing more than to back her boyfriend up but she knew it was impossible, stupid even, given their situation. And besides, it's not like he was in need of anyone's help anyway, it was just a silly girl.
So, she did the only thing she could; sit quietly and watch. Although her hand did sneak down near her wand pocket...just in case.

Jennessa grinned brightly, eyes dancing with joy. "Oh I know what you mean! I've got the works... I was just in the other day and I stocked up on dung bombs, The skiving snackboxes of course, I grabbed a couple Portable Swamps... Of course some Daydream charms, Some canary creams, a few more Extendable ears, a couple trick wands... They were never my Favourite but it's so much fun to swap out a snake's wand during Charms class..." She giggled a bit. "Oh and of course I grabbed some of the Weasleys' Wildfire Whiz-bangs..." Her eyes danced with mischief and mirth as ideas sprang through her mind. "A few love potions and of course some Decoy Detonators for our getaway." She grinned in a conspiratory manner and nodded, her eyes dancing with the thought of her stash.
She nodded as she had been thinking about the best prank to pull on Filch as well. He ticked her off so often. "Well... We could use one of the Portable swamps, that's always fun... Or we could eat the canary creams and leave yellow feathers everywhere and get away before he knows it's us..." She giggled again at the thought. "Orrrrr we could leave him a disguised Love Potion at just the right time when Madam Pomfrey or McGonnagal walks by..." She grinned at the ideas that came spilling forth, but they were cut short as a hand roughly smacked the back of her head, sending it forward a bit.
A yelp of surprise leapt forth, but before she could think, she was on her feet, wand out, glare in place. She didn't even notice Francis getting up as well. She was ready for a fight, odd for a PUff... But she wasn't pleased with that treatment. "Excuse you! Tell me that was an accident... Because that was quite unladylike of you. Not that you've proved to be much of a lady to start with. What the heck?" She glared at the girl. She didn't know her well, but she certainly found she didn't like her.

Post by Vane Avebury on Feb 18, 2011 21:59:32 GMT
Vane, unusually late, strides quickly into the Great Hall with a frown set firmly in place as his eyes drag over each of the House tables. Most of the student population and staff were already present, eating, and having what appeared to be a normal meal. Nothing too out of the ordinary going on.
Quickly, glowering at the other tables as he passes, Vane reaches the Slytherin table, completely unaware of the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw scuffle about to happen, and plops his grumpy self down on the bench right next to Genevieve Stark. "Alright.", he greets roughly. Naturally, the wizard's thoughts were focused on what his own problems were, and not of the others in the Great Hall. The scene unfolding before them still went unnoticed by the snake.

Gen jumped, more than a little startled, when Vane unexpectedly sat next to her and spoke. Upon turning and seeing who it was, she smiled with relief (Although there really was no reason for her to be worried. It must have been her nerves over the unfolding situation.) and motioned with her head toward the Hufflepuff table. "Right on time, Vane. I believe we're about to be entertained." She smirked and turned her attention back to Francis and the other Huffie who had just stood up. Putting on her typical Slytherin air and showing complete detachment toward the parties involved.
