"Ooh, the love potion idea sounds good!" Nancy giggled. Before she could extend this thought, she felt a hand collide with the back of her head. She gasped and, looking round in shock, saw that it was a Ravenclaw. This was a surprise: a snake she'd expect it of, but she'd always gotten along well with the Ravenclaws before. She realised that both Jennessa and Francis had also received a slap as they were quickly going into confrontation mode. She got up too to help create a united front, but didn't actually say anything herself: she wasn't much for arguments at the best of times, and the scene was beginning to gain an audience. She tried to keep her face set and angry, yet she could feel the colour rising in her cheeks as the hall began to hush, and more eyes turned in their direction.

Gen jumped, more than a little startled, when Vane unexpectedly sat next to her and spoke. Upon turning and seeing who it was, she smiled with relief (Although there really was no reason for her to be worried. It must have been her nerves over the unfolding situation.) and motioned with her head toward the Hufflepuff table. "Right on time, Vane. I believe we're about to be entertained." She smirked and turned her attention back to Francis and the other Huffie who had just stood up. Putting on her typical Slytherin air and showing complete detachment toward the parties involved. A satisfied chuckle slipped past Vane's lips when Gen jumped after he announced himself, and he fixed his sights on her, expecting a snippy retort in return. To his surpise it didn't come, and instead, he received good news. "Oh?", he asked with great interest while his eyes flicked in the suggested direction. Instantly, Vane's frown was turned upside down, for the sight ahead looked delightful. Three Huffies to one Ravenclaw. "Perfect." No. Not perfect. Not in the slightest. What in the name of Merlin was Jennessa doing? Vane's eyes narrowed the second he recognized the blonde Hufflepuff, and he leant closer to Gen. "What's happened?" He forced his gaze to move on from Jennessa to the other two badgers -he had no clue of their names- in the off chance Gen might spot the recognition in his eyes.

In the same fashion as Vane, Gen made sure she kept her eyes away from Francis when she spoke. Afraid that he may catch any trace of recognition (or adoration, really) in their gaze. She leaned even closer and responded in a quiet voice. "It's actually quite funny. See that rather dirty looking Ravenclaw girl over there? Well, I think it's a girl. Anyway, she walked past those three and bopped them in the head for no apparent reason." She laughed at this. She couldn't help it, it had been quite hilarious to watch. Until she realised one of them was Francis, that is. "I can't believe she's still standing, though. She would so be in the hospital wing by now if it had been Slytherins she put her hands on." She continued to laugh, although by now she worried about the trouble Francis might get into if any of the staff intervened. And by the looks of it, everyone in the Great Hall was beginning to notice.

...Francis stepped out from the bench, noticing that the girl had hit two of his housemates too. He wasn't much for Hufflepuff solidarity, but he wasn't going to just sit there and let himself get victimised, especially by some bullish girl. "Oi," he yelled after her, his face stormy. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" Ellie shoved a forkfull of ham and eggs in her mouth, looking totally innocent. - I didn't do anything, she answered, more or less intelligibly through the food. At least nothing compared to what she did to the Huffie Quidditch team in the last match, she thought. - It was Paul, she explained, stroking her rat, he hopped on your heads, and I saved you from having eaten your badger-lice!
She frowned at the Hufflepuffs, signalling with her facial expression that the talk was over, turned at her plate again, and started to inspect the leftovers of her fellow Ravenclaws. -Eh, Tina, you don't want to eat that ham, right?

You're certain, are you?", he asked, kidding only slightly, for he really wasn't sure himself of the true gender of said Ravenclaw student. The thought of this and Gen's explanation of the accounts that happened to lead up to the current stand-off turned Vane's frown into a very amused smile. Slowly, his head began to shake, "No, I don't expect she would." There was a very slim chance the Ravenclaw, had she bopped him on the head, would be leaving the hospital wing for a week, let alone continue to sit there and eat after Vane was finished with her. A hint of malice shined in his eyes as he spoke, for he could easily place himself in the shoes of the others. This little misunderstanding wasn't anything Vane normally would have great interest in, but the fact that Jennessa still stood there kept his attention. He even felt an uncomfortable little twinge, as if he had the sudden urge to stand up for the tiny witch, and show that Ravenclaw what for. He didn't though, Vane kept himself right there next to Genevieve, growing uncomfortable in his own skin as the entire school finally looked on.

"I freaking saw you!" Francis said loudly, advancing on the Ravenclaw table. He was angry, and he didn't care if she was a girl or not, he wasn't just going to sit back and take it. There were enough witnesses to ensure he didn't do anything drastic, like he wanted to, but he wasn't going to accept abuse from anyone; especially a kid who looked like she hadn't washed in weeks. Besides, he knew Gen was still watching him, and he didn't want to look weak in front of her.
"Now why don't you say sorry to the girls?" he growled, his voice a low, menacing rumble. Everyone in the school knew that Francis wasn't one to back down from a confrontation. Most people just steered clear of him. He had strong view, and an even stronger temper which he found hard to control when he was riled. He was trying his best not to lose it now. He hated that people picked on the Hufflepuffs, and he wasn't going to stand for it, not even from a Ravenclaw.

Nancy felt her face flush with colour as Francis demanded an apology for her and Jennessa, yet she still stood her ground. As she had no clue about what would be the best thing to say in this situation, she was glad that someone like Francis was involved. She had noticed before that he commanded a rather threatening image, and she knew that she didn't want to get on the wrong side of him herself. She glanced at Jennessa to see how she was bearing up and was shocked to see that she had her wand out. Nancy sincerely hoped she wouldn't actually use it; if she did, who knew what kind of heights this confrontation could escalate to?

Ohhh Jennesssa was not pleased... Her blood ran hot and she wasn't going to take that. Least of all from some Ravenclaw. She didn't even like Ravenclaws... She didn't necessarily dislike them either... But this specific Ravenclaw? She disliked. She glared at the girl, her usually gentle blue gaze icy and angry... But then... A stroke of brilliance... She glanced up in surprise as Francis demanded that the witch appologize to them... Well that would be all well and good, but Nessa was angry. However... Somehow she got herself under control for the moment, and yet her wand was still out.
Jennessa didn't so much as glance around, trying to get her temper down to a simmer, as she strode a couple steps toward Francis, before laying her hand on his shoulder. Did the thought occur to her that she shouldn't do what she was about to do? Not really... But it did look like she was trying to calm the situation down at this point... However, her wand was certainly still out.
Now Jennessa had been practicing a bit on nonverbal spells... She hadn't mastered them yet, obviously, but it was something she was very interested in. With that said, Jennessa started to speak. "Come on Francis... I'm sure it was a complete accident..." She said it loud enough that those nearby would hear her, but as she spoke, she gave her wand just a bit of a flick. Trying not to make the motion noticable as she was starting to move it toward her pocket. However... If someone was paying enough attention, it was pointed right at Ellie's plate.
Just then all heck could break loose. Because many things were about to happen all at once. One of which being that the food in front of Ellie would explode all over her. Well explode at least, some very likely to get on Ellie. Shock would light up Nessa's face, but be likely conncealed by being not odd as there would be shock on many faces. Nessa didn't even pause in her smooth motion, however, knowing that her wand needed to be in her pocket at this time. Now, in reality Nessa had just meant to float Ellie's food up out of reach and then drop it back on the table as her wand dissapeared, but apperantly that hadn't been what had happened when the spell went awry. Now... Nessa's gaze dashed about as her wand slid gently back into her pocket, and hand came back out free of the wand, looking at the shock all around her as people began looking around and whispering excitedly to eachother. Oh crud... This wasn't going to turn out well.
In her shocked glancing around, Nessa's eyes soon met Vane's, widened, and quickly continued on it's path. Oh great. He was here and saw it all... She tried hard not to let that show in her face, but at this point she realized everyone was watching... Who had seen her little motions? In theory her motions were well enough hidden, and the shock on her face could be taken as simply shock at what happened... But then again anyone watching would probably be able to tell, from the intense concentration in her eyes, to the slight flicking of her wand as she put it away... Then again if they weren't directly watching her... Perhaps not. But she finally looked to her two housemates, cringing internally, but not showing much on the outside other than shock... She could have just caused quite a bit of trouble for them... But could she let the blasted girl get away with her garbage? Alright so her method and timing was skewed... But hey... At this moment she looked innocent, making her features take on complete shock, and maybe a bit of fear... Ah the Hufflepuff way.... But she looked to Francis and muttered quickly to him. "I think we should sit down." In reality she thought they should get the heck out of the Great Hall, but that would be left unsaid for now. But she wouldn't move an inch from his side. Not until he would move, if he was inclined.

Gen didn't quite catch what the Ravenclaw had said but it was obvious to everyone watching that it was not an apology. Going by the group's reactions she had either denied her involvement or completely dismissed the situation. Either way, Francis was angry. But Gen, on the other hand, was positively thrilled. Thrilled because seeing this side of him made her want him even more. He looked so amazingly sexy to her right now she could hardly hold back...or pay attention to what was being said. She bit her lip and very reluctantly peeled her eyes away from him. Quite aware that Vane, as well as a few other friends, were still sitting at the table.
But then something quite unexpected happened...Ellie's food exploded. At this, Gen's eyes grew wide with shock and her hands flew to her mouth to hold back the laughter. She had missed who did it of course, as her attention had been elsewhere, but she knew this was it - something was about to go down. Or at least she hoped it was. Because she had no doubt that no matter what happened, her gorgeous rebel of a boyfriend would most definitely come out on top.

Vane watched, intently, every move Jennessa made. Of course he probably shouldn't have been so focused on the witch with the whole of Slytherin House all about him, he just couldn't bring himself to look away. Occasionally, his sights would touch on the wand in her hand, but only to quickly move back to her face, taking in again the sight of how angry she appeared. He felt a warm glow begin to burn in his chest as he soon found himself feeling proud of Jennessa, happy she was standing up for herself. Though, it was clearly obvious that Francis was the one really doing anything.
Wait.
He blinked, quickly moving his line of vision from Nessa to her wand. I didn't just see that... did I?, Vane wondered, sights instantly roving about, looking for any others that might have caught Jennessa's little movement, the flicker of her wand. He held his breath as his gaze wandered slowly, while hopefully lacking the guilt he felt that wasn't his to bear, when it happened.
The Ravenclaw's plate, or food exploded, sending bits of this, that, and the other thing here, there, and everywhere. He snapped his head back, catching sight of food falling all over, and burst out with laughter. He couldn't hold it in, no way in Hell, the sight was just too funny. Vane's cheeks grew ruddy with how hard he was laughing, and he nearly fell backward off his seat before he finally was able to gain control over himself.
It was with quiet fits of snickering behind a bitten lip that he continued to look on, hoping that the scene would get better now that someone, Jennessa, finally took action.

It took her completely by surprise when all of a sudden her food exploded. It all happened so fast and unexpected, Ellie didn't know what she noticed first, the messed up Ravenclaw table, or the Slytherins laughing their ass off. She glared at Vane, wondering and resenting that a snake would take the side of the Huffles, and made a mental note to pay him back should the opportunity arise.
With a shirty sigh, Ellie turned towards the group of Hufflepuffs. She didn't get up, just looked at them while she removed intentionally slow a slice of ham from her hair, and brushed off the remainders of toast and eggs from her robes.
- Unlike you, Francis, I do not have eyes in the back of my head, Ellie hissed, I didn't see who did what. Anyway, it doesn't matter.
Before she had fully finished her last sentence, she had levitated with a quick flick of her wand a bottle of pumpkinjuice from the Hufflepuff table and turned it upside down over their heads.
- I hope you are cooling down now? If not, what about an amicable meeting at dawn in the Forbidden Forest?

Alright, Gen had to admit it, the show was getting funnier by the minute. And the sight of Vane almost falling off his seat in laughter made her snicker that much more. Sure she cared about how things would turn out for Francis, but she could not afford to lose her Slytherin cool right now....not while sitting right in the middle of the snake pit. So she continued to watch and laugh right along with them, wishing the whole time she could just pull out her wand and hit the annoying Ravenclaw girl with a puking charm.
Right as she was leaning in towards Vane to make the suggestion, she heard the girl speak again, quickly pulling Gen's attention back to the scene. But what happened next she did not find funny...it infuriated her, actually. Francis was getting drenched with pumpkin juice while the entire school looked on and all she could do was just sit there and pretend to laugh about it along with her housemates. She growled on the inside..it felt wrong to not do anything! But she knew interfering would give everything away, and Francis would not want that. He may even take it the wrong way and assume that she finds him incapable of handling the situation on his own.
She sighed defeatedly then, letting her conscience win once again. The only thing that actually fueled the snickering she was still doing was her decision to make the girl pay next time she saw her around the castle...she would never know what hit her.

Francis was seething. He was surprised the pumpkin juice wasn't boiling on his skin, he was so angry. He shook his head, the juice spraying in little arcs from his shaggy dark hair. His fists were clenched at his sides as he tried his hardest not to lash out. She was a girl, and even he couldn't beat up a girl. Still, as he heard what she was saying, something inside him snapped. So he and Gen hadn't been imagining hearing things down by the Forest. It had been this little creep. Well, she could tip pumpkin juice over him, but he was not going to let her ruin things with him and Gen.
Crossing the space between him and the Ravenclaw, Francis took hold of her ratty black hair in one hand, clanching his fist tight so it pulled hard at the roots. Gritting his teeth, he pushed the girl face down against the table, her cheek squelching in the spilled food. His lips were close to her ear before he hissed, "If you keep pissing me off, you're going to regret it, bitch." He kept his fingers tight in her hair, his strength more than enough to hold her down. He might not be great with a wand, but he doubted there was anyone in the school that could best him in a physical fight. "You might think you're clever, but if you keep shooting your mouth off, I won't be quite so gentle." Snarling, he pushed her face hard into the table before letting go and stalking away, out of the Great Hall. He wanted a damn shower, and he needed nicotine. Besides, if he stayed, he knew he wouldn't be able to control his temper.

(OOC: I wanted to propose a duel situation at dawn but it's ok if you understood it this way)
Immobilized by his firm grip and with her wand uselessly stored in her pocket again, Ellie tried to kick Francis' legs with her heavy boots. She even managed to stomp on his foot, but he seemed so enraged that he didn't feel any of it. She took a bit of cold comfort in the fact that he would definately feel and see it the next day.
Ellie herself went pale as a sheet, extremely quiet and collected. She never let her fury show. Her ears were buzzing and she had problems to understand what Francis was whispering into her ear. When he finally let her go and stormed out of the hall she just looked after him, too confused to cast a Tripping Jinx or anthing else she possible had had in mind earlier. - What did he mean with 'shooting my mouth off'?, she thought slightly perplexed.
Then she cracked her joints one by one as if to test the functionality, wiped her face clean with a Scouring Charm and the help of a napkin. She grabbed her rat from behind a mount of fresh apples where it had taken refuge. - You know you are no help, Paulie, she scolded the animal, tugging at its tail and sat it on her shoulder.
She stared at her empty plate and commanded: - Sausages, tomatoes and toast.
Looking around with a menacing expression but adressing nobody in particular, she announced: -I do not like to be interrupted when I am eating!

If Jennessa was shocked at what she had done, that was nothing to the shock she was feeling when Francis reacted. Yes... She now had sticky Pumpkin juice all over her pretty multicolored hair, and that had even caused her to squeak and yelp in surprise... But that was nothing to the shock she felt as Francis stormed over to the Ravenclaw table, treated that witch so roughly, and then stormed out. Her eyes widened, not hearing what Francis whispered to her in that fury, but something had stirred him up considerably!
But before long he stormed out of the hall. Jennessa glanced over at Ellie, half fearing she would turn fury on herself or Nancy, but the girl seemed content to just go back to her food... Alright, that was good at least... Maybe... The anger Jennessa had formerly felt had turned mostly to shock, and what was still there was now at a safe simmer. In her mind, Francis had taken care of it... But there was still trouble ahead she was sure. She glanced over to Nancy, appologetics in her eyes. She bit her lip and strode over to the table, glancing over her plate of food, and then back up to the Ravenclaw table, and even casting a glance to the table of the snakes. She met Vane's gaze and colored visibly in her cheeks. She finally looked back down and mumbled lightly to Nancy. "Suddenly I'm not so hungry anymore... Think I'll go too..."
One more wary glance was cast at Ellie and her table, but then she would turn and walk toward the door, her steps slowing a bit to wait for Nancy should she chose to come too.
