I'm working in the Department of International Magical Cooperation. I developed an interest in it when I took the traditional world tour after Hogwarts.

Firewhisky's fine- oh wow, that sounds exciting! I became the welcome witch at St. Mungos.

*laughs*

Quite a suprise to some.

[Zacharias Smith]

*Zacharias couldn't help laughing slightly as he turned to look her over once more with a considering eye.*

I can see that, actually. It sounds interesting.

*He turns to the tender*

Two firewhiskeys, please.

*He then returns his attention to the young lady*

You know, Vane, the last time I saw you, you were still a girl of fifteen. I barely recognized you.

[Romilda Vane]

*smiles*

*takes the new drink then looks back at him, smiling*

Is that a good thing, or a bad thing?

*lifts a brow*

That depends. I'm either saying that you've grown into a beautiful woman or simply that you've lost your girlish charms. Since I'm buying you drinks, it's probably safe to assume the latter...

*He smirks ever so faintly, teasing her a little even as he compliments her*

So how did you wind up in St. Mungo's? I'm afraid I didn't know you too well at Hogwarts.

*laughs*

hmm, perhaps both are in order?

*smirks then lets out a small laugh*

Well... The position I originally wanted was taken already, so I searched the archives for a position and there it was.

*takes a sip*

I actually wanted to be the Care of Magical Creatures professor at Hogwarts, my family and I breed thestrals and therefore I thought I'd be good at it.

*shrugs*

I heard they're interviewing a dragon trainer for the position, far better choice than myself

I wouldn't say that.

*He shrugs slightly*

Threstrals are at least as interesting as dragons. They're connected with a fundamental mystery of the universe. Dragons are simply big.

*He gives her another smirk, taking his drink as it arrives*

So do you plan to move up the ladder at St Mungo's or try for something in Care of Magical Creatures? I might be able to talk to my father about you, depending on what you want to do. The Smiths have a fair number of connections, because of my father's career and, of course, the connection to Hufflepuff.

*scouts the room and notices Romilda being chatted up by a slim, tall male*
*cringes at the thought of talking to her outside of work but decides it would be the proper and polite thing to do*
* clears her throat and lifts herself from her chair, taking her drink with her and flipping back her hair as she made her way towards the pair *

Hi, Romilda, fancy seeing you here.
*smiles*
*looks up at the man*
Am I interrupting anything?

*He smiles as he turns to see the somewhat older, unknown woman*

Not at all. Miss Vane and I were just catching up. We were at Hogwarts together.

You don't think they're monsterous, evil devil like creatures? Wow, I've truely underestimated you.

*Pulls hair behind her ear*

I'd love to get a job with Magical Creatures or somthing of the sort.

*blushes and looks down*

You don't have to do that.

*tilts head*

Connection? What kind of connection, you're related?

*looks up at Jenna*

Hey, Jenna! It's good to see you too, This is Zacharias Smith, he's an old classmate from school

*turns to the man and smiles*

How nice...did you two know eachother?

*looks over at Zacharias*

Eh, not really, we knew eachother, aquaintances really

*smiles*

*He laughs slightly*

Just a popular prejudice. You can never understand magical creatures if you start off making assumptions about them. It's not my field, particularly, but I try to know at least a little about everything. There's international cooperation in every area of magic, after all, so a level of general knowledge is required. Besides, I like to think of myself as an educated man.

*He shrugs slightly*

It can't hurt to ask him. I don't know if he'd actually be able to do anything or not. He helped me get this job but it's in the same Department he works in. It's really no problem.

*He leans forward slightly*

I'm actually descended from Helga Hufflepuff. Her Cup used to be in our family line until it was stolen several decades ago. Not that we Hufflepuffs attach the sort of excessive value to that sort of thing that a Slytherin might but...

*Another shrug*

...it's something to live up to.

*Smiles at him, not believing that she's found some guy who actually thought things through and didn't judge the thestrals*

Wow. Not bad, Smith, not bad at all. They're incredible creatures. We have two living with us here right now, mine and my sisters. A large male and female. Evon and Lavaci.

*takes a sip*

Thank you, I don't want any trouble though.

*leans forward as he does and listens*

You know, I always loved to hear what other houses said about eachother...

*nods at him and smiles in a friendly manner*
always seemed to have the worst reputation.
*turns her direction to Romilda *
