Fleur's smile grew wider. "My name did not come out of zat goblet based on my good looks alone! Plus I theenk ze teaching a Beauxbatons is more advanced zan at 'Ogwarts" she said rather proudly as she walked towards Roger's room.
"Good night, Roger" she said as she walked inside his room and closed the door.

Roger simply stood there, still dumbstruck at either Fleur's talents at magic, beauty, or both for several moments before responding "Good night, Fleur." Although he knew she didn't hear him as she was already inside his room. He then laid down on the couch to sleep, still amazed.

Fleur laid in bed for a while but she could not sleep. She was too worried about Bill and the rest of his family. She needed something to take her mind off everything and remembered the photograph from the Yule Ball. She got out of bed, lit the lantern, and walk over to the dresser. She picked up the photo and gazed at the two figures in it before she brought it back to the bed. She sat on the edge of the bed as she allowed herself to remember that night from years ago. A smile grew on her face as she thought of the dazed look on Roger's face throughout dinner as she talked to him, how he never remembered what it was that she said to him, and how much trouble he had eating, missing his mouth numerous times.
She remembered after dinner when they left the castle for some private time in the rose gardens. He smile grew as she remembered their intimate moments as they kissed repeatedly surrounded by rose bushes. After that she sneaked Roger into her private room in the Beauxbatons house where they made love in the firelight.
Fleur's smile diminished at that thought. Not that she regreted her decision or she didn't enjoy it, but it was only physical pleasure. At that time she could not understand true love as she could now with Bill.
As she put the photo back and laid down to sleep, she began to think. Roger and her never developed deep feelings for each other as they both agreed it would make saying goodbye to each other harder when it was time for her to return to France. They didn't expect to see each other much, if ever. She didn't expect to stay in Britain were she got a job at Gringgotts and fall in love with Bill.
But what if Roger and she had allowed themselves to develop feelings for each other? Could she have fallen in love with Roger in the same way she did with Bill?

Roger woke up early the next morning. He thought of waking Fleur in case she wanted to go look for the Weasley family but decided against it as he felt she could use the rest.
He went and got the Daily Prophet and unrolled it. He nearly dropped it as he read the headline. He even had to read it several times before he believed it; Harry Potter has been killed. His heart sank even more as he continued to read it further, Ginny was also killed. He threw the paper down, he didn't have the heart to read it anymore, he didn't want anymore bad news.
He thought of waking Fleur again, but again decided not to as it would only upset her, something he knew she didn't need. He simply sat on the couch in stony silence as he waited for Fleur to wake up.

Fleur woke up slightly later than usual for her. With the stress of everything she needed the extra sleep. While dressing her eyes locked on the old photo of Roger and her, which stirred up the thoughts from last night. She quickly finished dressing and tried to put those thoughts out of her mind.
As she left the room she found Roger sitting on the couch with a dour expression on his face. "Eez sometheeng wrong Roger?" she asked in a worried voice, as she already knew the answer to that question.

Roger looked at Fleur, he didn't have the heart to tell her what he just read. He didn't even want to show her the paper, as he knew she didn't need anymore pain, but he knew he could not keep the information from her.
"I think you need to see this Fleur" he said in a low voice as he handed her the Daily Prophet.

Fleur took the paper from Roger and looked at it. Her heart sank as she read the headline and the article that accompanied it. Tears began to well in her eyes once again as she dropped the paper. Her legs began to give out and she collapsed on the couch as tears started to run down her face. She then buried her face in her hands as she started to sob.
"Eet can't be true..." she said though her sobs.

Roger simply stood there helpless as he watched Fleur cry. He hesitantly sat down next to her on the couch and put his arms around her. He didn't want to but he didn't want Fleur to sit there alone and suffer. As much as he tried not to, he enjoyed being that close to her with his arms around her. He knew it was inappropriate but he could not help himself.

Fleur simply let Roger hold her for a few moments. She felt like giving up, going back to France away from everything for a second. However she couldn't give up and let Harry die in vain, not after he saved her sister years ago. The thought of Harry saving her sister gave her a renewed strength.
Fleur stood up and wiped the tears from her face before she spoke. "I am not going to give up. I don't care what You-Know-Who 'as done. I am going to continue to fight 'im, even eef I am ze last Order member left. 'Arry saved my seester, and for zat I am indebted to 'im. I can't let 'Arry die in vain."

Roger simply looked surprised as Fleur got up and spoke defiantly. He listened to her with great interest and looked at her with awe at her newfound strength before responding. "Well you are an official Order member, and a much better witch than I am wizard, so I think you should be in charge. What are we going to do?"

Fleur raised an eyebrow. "We? We are not going to do anytheeng Roger. I am sorry but eet eez too late for you to join ze Order now. When I first contacted you to join, zere was 'ope. I did try to get ze other Order members to accept you, but zey didn't. Maybe eet was good zey didn't, you would most likely be dead now. I 'ave lost 'Arry, Ginny, who knows who else. I might 'ave lost Bill even." she said as she looked downward for a moment as tears began to well in her eyes once again. When she finally looked up again at Roger she said weakly "I don't want to lose you too."

Roger listened to Fleur patiently before he said anything. "There is always hope Fleur" he said as he gently placed his hands on her shoulders. "Our former headmaster once said 'happiness can be found in the darkest of places if one just remembers to turn on the light.' I don't think he would have gave up. And I can't let you go on by yourself" Roger told her, hoping to sound reassuring.

Fleur thought about what Roger said. He was right, but she still had her doubts of bringing him into the Order. However she thought there would be no harm in teaching him some basic defensive spells. One of the most important was the patronus charm.
"Can you summon a Patronus?" she asked him.

"Well... no" Roger stammered. "Not a fully corporeal one anyway. I can created the shield version though. Our Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher was not very competent my seventh year, which is the year a full patronus is taught at Hogwarts" he continued as he referred to Umbridge and her terrible teaching. "Although I never really tried. I never had the need to summon one."

"I can assure you Roger, you will need to summon one eef you do decide to become an Order member" Fleur told him. With that she pulled out her wand, concentrated for a moment, and summoned her patronus; a beautiful slivery white peacock. It flared its feathers out and ran about the room for a moment until Fleur dismissed it. "Zat eez my patronus's form. Lets see eef you can summon one" she said.
