Arithmancy - The Study Of Divination Through Numbers.

The word "arithmancy" is derived from two Greek words: "arithmos" meaning numbers and "manteia" meaning divination. Arithmancy has two major methods, the Agrippan and Chaldean. Both have the same basic process, though the measurements on the charts pertaining to both are slightly different.



The Agrippan Method: Most common method. Uses the most recent letters of the Latin Alphabet and numbers one through nine. Is also referred to as the Pythagorean method, though it has no connection to the Pythagoras.

The Chaldean Method: Lesser known method of arithmancy. "Chaldean" is an old name for the Aramaic languages. For the most part is the same as the Agrippan method, but with a chart numbered and lettered differently.

Using numbers to describe your personality. You get the numbers from your name, each letter is a certain number, and you calculate different parts of your lifestyle. Something like that.

*groans at the mention of numbers, and counts her entire name, groaning again and letting her head fall onto the desk with a loud thump.*

I hate numbers.

*copies notes on several different sheets of paper, as most of them have doodles on them, and groans. She was horrible at organizing. Let alone organizing AND numbers*

*looks at her own pile of parchment on her desk.*

*sighing she twiddles her thumbs and looks around the class.*

*remembers how she treated him last class but keeps grinning*

*puts them all in her Arithmacy folder, smiling broadly and not quite realizing that she's probably going to have to take it out agan.*

*pulls out her notebook and doodles on it, her mind not taking in anything but the paper and the quill in front of her, coming out with an almost professional portrait of a dark haired man on a broom stick, and herself racing him. His face is unrecognizable, but it's happily determined to catch her, She's looking over her shoulder at him, long wavy hair blowing in the wind as she smiles at him.*
