Jennessa watched as Zelda downed her potion. Eyes widened a little bit, but that gave the little Hufflepuff courage. Or at least enough courage to do the same. She lifted her little goblet to her own lips and sipped at the potion. It actually didn't taste horrible! And she gulped down the small swallow that was in the glass and couldn't help that a large grin spread across her face as a warmth filled her tummy and a giddiness filled her heart.
She felt a giggle bubble up inside her as the effects of the potion took root. Now... This wasn't an entirely foreign feeling or look on the Hufflepuff. She often felt overly happy for no reason, but this was unlike a happy she knew. This was completely happy for no reason whatsoever! Oh and she liked it! This earned another giggle as she looked around the class as others took their potions as well. Even if most of them weren't completely confident with their work, many of them seemed to do at least alright. She glanced over to Dinah and cringed a little, highly wishing she could pass her some of her own potion, her being a fellow Huffie and all... But she wasn't sure she could risk that. Plus she had thrown her lot in with that Ravenclaw girl... That kind of made Nessa a bit torn with her. But this didn't keep Nessa's mood down very effectively as the potion continued to boost it up, that silly grin returning to her features.

*she watched as Ellie drank her potion. When she was finished, Dinah poked her to see whether she was still alive. She wriggled a bit, debunking Dinah’s suspicions*
* For a moment she considered ‘losing’ her goblet on the floor but realized it would be useless, if momentarily satisfying. She looked over to Jennessa whose face had settled into a wide grin, and decided to give it a try. She closed her eyes, got into defence position and drank her own elixir. The taste was disgusting and she didn’t feel a thread of happiness.*

*Lu grins widely. She always enjoys the part when students have to taste potions they just made, because then they would try harder the next time. She makes notes about the liquids and the reaction of the students.*
"I am going to award a point for Gryffindor, of course. Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw get no points. Athough Tina and Jenessa did quite okay, the deplorable results of Dinah and Ellie take the points off again. I am sorry. Maybe next time you should team up with your own house?"
*she looks expectantly at Michael and Genevieve. Their elixir looks okay, but with the undiluted Nyx Myristcæ they nicked from the cupboard it should have some unwanted side effects.*
"That leaves the Slytherins. Will they get a point or not?"

*Apparently the concentrated nutmeg, was a bad idea. It pushed the euphoria too far. He felt good, very good, but also a bit itchy. He scratched his arms, but it was quite enjoyable nonetheless. He tried to laugh, but his mouth was dry and no noise came out. As the moments wore on he became more and more lightheaded, becoming less aware of his surroundings.*
*The dryness in his mouth made him thirsty, but his lightheadness meant he was too dizzy to try and stand. He waved his arm floppily trying to get someones attention and gasped.*
Wa'er... su wa'er.
*Then burst into another fit of noiseless laughter.*

Zelda smiled at Professor Black, glad to have done well today. Being the only Gryffindor in this class made it hard for her to group with people who sometimes only cared about people in their own houses. Zelda wouldn't mind getting to know Jennessa better. She seemed like a truly nice and genuine person.
When Professor Black wanted to see how the Slytherins' did Zelda couldn't help but look over in curiosity. Micheal's potion looked very similar to her's but his reaction seemed off. His reactions scared her a bit, and she wasn't quite sure what to do. Zelda noticed that he seemed to be in extreme uncomfort, but Zelda wasn't sure what was going on.
It wasn't until he started muttering that Zelda started to understand. Apparently something in his potion went wrong and was giving him crazy side effects, but what was he saying? Although he was a Slytherin who probably didn't like Muggleborns or Gryffindors, Zelda felt the need to help him in some way. No one else seemed to be doing anything. Zelda grabbed an empty vial from the table and muttered, "Aguamenti". The vial filled with water and she charmed it to fly over to him, she hoped he didn't see who it was from, even though she wanted to help, she didn't want to seem like a freak for helping a Slytherin who may or may not like her.

*As the vial came close, he reached out to grab it, almost spilling it as he did. He managed to gulp it down, not aware of where it had come from, but immediately his mouth felt better.*
Hahaha. That potion really works!
*He finished the last drops of water from the vial and continued itching his arms, giggling as he did.*

Gen looked around the room, everyone seemed to be done with their brews but her. Even Billows was tasting his, although she did wonder if he was suffering from a skin condition she hadn't noticed before. Glancing back at her brew, she felt disappointed to see no change after the addition of Michael's nutmeg. "I'm not quite done yet." She called out, reaching for the yellow liquid once more and adding a few extra drops...and then another few.
Within seconds the contents of her cauldron began to bubble vigorously, its colour changing to a pale orange and its consistency as thick as paint. "Great. Here we go again..." Gen's chair made a loud scraping noise as she pushed herself back and away from the table, grabbing Michael's shirtsleeve and giving him a tug. "You should probably stand back. I don't see this ending well." As she half-whispered the words a pungent nutmeggy odour began to fill the classroom, so strong that Gen's eyes started to sting. "No explosive bangs yet! That's a good sign." she thought with a snicker, fanning her book at the cauldron to blow out the fire underneath it. Which didn't help. The potion continued to boil all on its own, its bubbles turning into geysers and spraying globs of whatever it was in all directions, leaving a scalding hot and sticky mess wherever (and on whomever) they landed.
Standing a safe distance away with crossed arms and a defiant look on her face, Gen's eyes landed on Miss Black as she made her way to the Slytherin's table. Gen was used to this by now. This whole year had been nothing but one potions-related disaster after another. She was actually beginning to wonder if she wasn't bungling things up on purpose - in an unconscious sort of way, of course.
"Well, you can't call me anything if not consistent." She said out loud with a smirk. No point in crying over spilt potions, right?

Nessa looked up expectantly to Professor Black. She knew she had done at least decently with her potion. It had the desired effects on her, making her overly happy. Again, not that this was anything new to the little puff, but still... She grinned in that silly fashion... At least until the Professor spoke of her house not getting any points. A rather downcast look came over the usually joyfull little puff, and a quick, sad glance was casted at her housemate who had rather failed with her potion. Sure she felt sorry for her, but darn... This couldn't keep her down very long, and a smile leapt back to her face.
A disturbance caught her attention, however, in the form of a bubbling over potion. Her eyes widened as Genevieve's potion seemed to be all wrong. It was bubbling all over the place and looked about ready to... A squeal of surprise came forth from the little Hufflepuff and she scrambled backwards, getting splashed with the potion and tumbling back off her chair in her haste to get away from the scalding liquids. She didn't get hit bad, but got a couple burned spots as she hastily got it off her skin. And yet she suddenly bursted into giggles sitting there a few feet from her chair, all this being quite humorous to the tiny Hufflepuff.

That comfortable feeling of happiness ended as quickly as it had begun. Tina's disappointed glance turned downwards at her desk even though she was used to getting no points in this class. Maybe next time, if I study enough.
Interested how well the two Slytherins had done, she turned around. While she was wondering why Michael Billows was scratching his arms, that disgusting smell grew stronger and stronger. Bah, what a stench. Tina had to cough a few times. Hey, why was his fellow student getting up? She lifted her head, paying closer attention to Genevieve's cauldron - and her eyes widened.
Fearing an explosion, she yelled "Watch out!" and jumped off her chair, almost kicking it over in the process. Her arms were covering her head as she hurried closer to the door.

*It wasn’t a surprise that she didn’t receive any points from the professor, but she did find it unfair that Ms. Black took away a point from the hufflepuffs. After all, it was Dinah who had done ALL the work on both her AND Ellie’s potions. It would only have been fair if she had gotten some credit for her multitasking*
*She forgot about the house points when she noticed the commotion that was happening over at the slytherin’s desks. She got up from her chair and moved away from Gen’s exploding potion. A stench of rotten fish was starting to spread in the room and Dinah felt like she had the whole Pacific Ocean with fish in her stomach. She tried to navigate through the obstacle course of flying potion droplets while wondering if it hadn’t been a better idea to attend a muggle school after all. Sure, learning how to pronounce in German that you don’t have any sisters in Switzerland wasn’t a concept that she understood or desired, but at least she would have been able to leave school at the end of the day alive and without any major injuries*

*Lucretia has expected the symptoms Michael shows, but as she didn't see Genevieve pouring an extra helping of nutmeg into her cauldron, she is taken slightly by surprise. Not a real surprise, after the first lessons she has adopted the habit of standing far away from the Slytherin's cauldron.*
"Genevieve!"
*Lu casts a shield around her in the last second to protect herself from the hot and gooey drops.*
"That settles it. I will dock two points from Slytherin. Also, you and Michael stay after class to clean up the room. NON-magically!"
*She makes a shooing gesture.*
"The rest of you is dismissed. If you have questions, I will be in my office after lunch."

*He continued to giggle at the suggestion not having much control over himself, and itched some more.*
Hey Gen, you should have some of this. It's really good!

Genevieve sighed after hearing her punishment and turned to look at Michael who, with the help of his potion, managed to find all of this quite amusing. "Really now? Have you even noticed what it has done to your skin?" She pointed at the bright red splotches down his forearms and shook her head disapprovingly, although she couldn't manage to completely hide her snigger. "Miss Black, anything we can do to help "Scratchy" out over here?"

Nessa jumped up again, that big smile still upon her face. Apperently her getting hit with the potion did nothing to douse her wonderful mood. She looked over to where Dinah was to make sure she hadn't gotten hurt by the potion splashing. She looked fine, and a glance around the class told her that any others she cared about were fine as well. And with this she finally moved her too-happy gaze to Professor Black. She was shooing them out except for the snakes.
It seemed the potion had helped to bolster Nessa's mood, but it wasn't dropping like some of their's seemed to be. She gathered up her things and headed out of the classroom, still giggling softly to herself. She gave a happy wave to Professor Black at the door. "Bye Professor Black, see you next lesson!" And with that the bubbly girl dissapeared out the door.

*She smiles after the flock of grinning and giggling students leaving the room. Her smile extends to Genevieve and Michael.*
"Yes, I could help him, but I won't. Look how happy he is scratching his arms! The effect will wear off in about two hours, and when he gets to his senses again and sees his damaged arms, he will maybe think twice next time before 'taking abbreviations'! Anyway there's not much you can do but make a compress with aluminium acetate."
*she hands the girl some sponges and a bucket she fills with a bluish liquid.*
"Don't forget to put on dragonhide gloves, the cleaning stuff is caustic."
*Lu packs up the students' vials and prepares to go. Then she comes back and pours into one of the miniaturs goblets a bit of Zelda's perfect elixir.*
"If you like you can drink this, maybe you will have more fun cleaning up the room!"
